"A Food Hierarchy Chart is very beneficial for Speech- Language Pathologists when conducting Feeding Therapy. These charts are used with children who are "picky eaters" or "problem eaters” to promote smoother transitions when we are introducing new foods to them. Most children have difficulty with trying new foods due to their sensitivities to taste, texture, smell, and or temperature. Using this hierarchy allows the child to become accustomed to new foods using a scaffolding- like approach.”
