Motherhood was never meant to be done alone. 🤎

Our bimonthly women’s circle is a space to slow down, gather by the ocean, share our stories, honor the season we’re in, and remind one another that we don’t have to carry it all by ourselves.

Pregnant, newly postpartum, deep in the toddler years, raising big kids, or somewhere in between ~ there is a place for you here.

Bring your babies, your children, your partner, your snacks, your stories, and your whole self. No pressure to be anything other than who you are.

And as a little gift, I photograph every mother, baby, or family after our circle. A moment captured just as you are, to honor this chapter of your life and give you something tangible to look back on as the seasons change. 📸

🌅 November 22
📍 Atlantic Dunes Park · Delray Beach

Come gather with us. Bring the whole family. Leave with a little more connection … and a memory to keep. 🌾🤎 DM me to be added to our WhatsApp group with details!

⭐️𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐃𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐌𝐢𝐝𝐰𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬⭐️

Doulas and midwives are praised as essential and yet are treated as expendable.

They are expected to be on call 24/7, hold immense emotional and physical labor, and absorb trauma in silence while being told they should feel grateful.

This is exploitation.

Society relies on doulas and midwives to do what the system will not:
🎢 Provide continuous labor support
🎢 Protect parents from coercion
🎢 Protect physiological birth
🎢 Protect birth choices
🎢 Translate medical language
🎢 De-escalate trauma caused by institutional care
🎢 Carry the weight of increasing access
And so much more

But then society undermines them, restrict them, or push them out entirely.

Doulas and midwives are asked to work births that last weeks, days, and for a flat fee that doesn’t even meet minimum wage.

They’re shamed for charging livable rates.

They’re told this is “heart work,” as if that justifies poverty.

That is exploitation.

Meanwhile the system profits from doulas buffering harm while refusing to adequately compensate them, adequately insure them, or respect their role.

And then there’s the pipeline.

Weekend certifications.

Online “midwifery” programs.

White-washed, colonized trainings that extract ancestral knowledge and resell it while the very communities that carried this work for generations remain underpaid, criminalized, or excluded.

That is exploitation too.

Exploitation thrives when:
😓Passion is weaponized
😓Care work is feminized
😓Boundaries are shamed
😓And saying “no” is framed as selfish

Doulas and midwives are not volunteers.

They are not accessories.

They are not a free add-on to a broken maternity system.

They are skilled workers providing life-altering care.

And until doulas and midwives are paid fairly, respected structurally, and protected legally, the system will keep feeding off their labor while calling it “support.”

Care work is not charity.

Love does not pay rent.

Exploitation doesn’t stop being exploitation just because it’s normalized.

If a system needs unpaid labor to survive, the system is the problem.
