Peptides 101: What They Are & Why They’re Everywhere. 🧬

Welcome to Unpopular Opinion Tuesday ➡️

We are seeing peptides pop up everywhere lately, promising everything from rapid weight loss to muscle growth. It can feel overwhelming.

So, what are they?

Simply put, peptides are short chains of amino acids—the building blocks of protein. Your body naturally produces them to send signals that regulate hunger, hormones, healing, and metabolism.

But here is the catch: Not all peptides are created equal.

Some are FDA-approved medications with strict safety testing. Others are "gray market" compounds with unknown long-term risks. And even "natural" peptides, when administered as drugs, can have effects that differ vastly from what your body naturally does.

This is where Stewardship comes in.

God has entrusted us with a body that is "fearfully and wonderfully made" (Psalm 139:14).

Stewardship means asking the hard questions before we reach for a new tool:

Which peptide is this?

Has it been studied in humans?

Where is it coming from?

What are the risks?

We shouldn't fear science, but we also shouldn't treat our bodies like experiments.

Foundations first.

Real food, sleep, and stress regulation are the soil in which health grows.

Tools like peptides should be used with wisdom and discernment, not as a shortcut to bypass the work of stewardship.

My DM’s are always open for questions and discussions.

👇 When it comes to new health trends, what is your rule of thumb for deciding whether to try them or not?

Your gut isn’t just digesting food. It’s talking to your mind. 🧠🦠
We often think of our brain as the "boss" and our gut as just the "processor." But what if they’re actually in a constant conversation?

Science calls it the Gut-Brain Axis. I call it listening to your body’s wisdom.
When we feel anxious, it’s often because our gut is inflamed. When we have brain fog, it’s often because our microbiome is out of balance. This isn’t "all in your head." It’s a physical signal.

Here’s the gentle truth: You can’t out-pray a nutrient deficiency. You can’t "willpower" your way out of inflammation. Your body needs the right building blocks to make serotonin, dopamine, and GABA.

Tryptophan (from eggs, turkey) → for calm.
Tyrosine (from beef, fish) → for focus.
Magnesium (from greens, nuts) → for relaxation.

When we feed our bodies with real, nutrient-dense food, we aren’t just "eating healthy." We are giving our minds the fuel they need to think clearly, regulate stress, and serve the people God has placed in our lives.

A little extra for your week: If you’ve been feeling "off" lately—foggy, anxious, or just not yourself—try looking at your plate before you look at your schedule.

Are you eating enough protein?
Are you including fermented foods?
Are you giving your body the rest it needs to process it all?

Small shifts in nutrition can lead to big shifts in mood. It’s not about perfection; it’s about alignment.

Why September is the Best Month for Food. 🍂🍎

There is something special about the first crisp air of September. The leaves start to turn, and suddenly, the grocery store is full of pumpkins, apples, and squashes.

But have you ever stopped to think that this isn’t just a trend?

It’s God’s design.

He didn’t make strawberries in the winter or pumpkins in the dead of summer. He created a rhythm where the food available is exactly what our bodies need at that moment.

Why Fall foods are special:

Apples: Full of quercetin, which helps our bodies handle the allergens of the changing season.

Squash & Pumpkin: Packed with Vitamin A and healthy fats to warm us up from the inside out.

Root Veggies: Nature’s way of giving us dense, comforting energy as the days get shorter.

When we eat with the seasons, we aren’t just following a diet.

We are stewarding our bodies in alignment with the Creator’s rhythm.

A little extra for your week: Don’t just buy the "seasonal" item; try a new way to eat it.

Roast your apples with cinnamon and a little butter instead of frying them.

Swap your morning oatmeal for a bowl of roasted pumpkin and seeds.

Add a handful of pomegranate seeds to your salad for a burst of antioxidants.

It’s simple, it’s delicious, and it’s a celebration of God’s goodness.

👇 What’s your absolute favorite fall food this year?

Let’s share some inspiration in the comments!

Stop asking "what's best for my body" and start asking "who is waiting on me?" 🌿

We often view health through the lens of personal benefit - how we look, how we feel, or how long we live.

But Scripture invites us into a much larger picture.

Your body is a vessel entrusted to you for a purpose that extends far beyond yourself.

When we steward our physical health, we aren't just optimizing for comfort, we are preparing ourselves to be more present, more energetic, and more effective in serving the people God has placed in our lives.

Think of it this way: a healthy member strengthens the whole Body.

When you reduce fatigue, clear brain fog, and build strength, you are increasing your capacity to love well, teach clearly, and serve faithfully.

You are moving from simply surviving to actively contributing.

This isn't about perfection. It's about faithfulness.

It's about recognizing that your vitality is a resource for others, not just a reward for yourself.

As members of one Body, our well-being impacts the whole.

Let's choose to steward what God has given us so we can show up fully for the work He has prepared for us.

How can you steward your body well in order to serve others?

Let's chat in the comments. 👇

Scripture References:

"Present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship." - Romans 12:1

"For as in one body we have many members... so we, though many, are one body in Christ." - Romans 12:4-5

"Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them..." - Romans 12:6

Your body isn’t a project to perfect—it’s a temple to steward.

We often treat our health like a vanity project, chasing aesthetic goals or the latest diet trend, but Scripture invites us into a deeper truth: your body is a sacred vessel entrusted to your care, not your own (1 Corinthians 6:19-20).

Biblical nutrition reframes the way we eat, moving away from restriction and towards nourishment. It’s about recognizing food as God’s design to provide the raw materials for energy, clarity, and resilience so we can fulfill our calling with endurance.

When you shift from asking “What do I look like?” to “How can I honor God with this body?”, every meal becomes an act of worship.

You’re not just feeding yourself; you’re preparing your vessel for the race set before you, ensuring you have the strength to show up fully for your family, work, and ministry.

Here are the foundational truths from Scripture to remind you of your calling to steward your body:

3 John 1:2 – “I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be in good health…”

1 Corinthians 6:19–20 – “You are not your own… Therefore honor God with your bodies.”

Galatians 6:7 – “Whatever one sows, that will he also reap.”

Psalm 104:14–15 – “He makes grass grow for the cattle, and plants for people to cultivate—bringing forth food from the earth…”

Hebrews 12:1 – “Let us lay aside every weight… and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us.”

1 Corinthians 10:31 – “Whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.”

The Not-So-Sweet Truth About Sugar. 🍭
We often think of sugar as the "bad guy" at the dinner party—the dessert we feel guilty about. But the real story isn’t about the cookie you had on Friday night.

It’s about the constant flood of sugar hiding in the "healthy" stuff we eat every single day.

Did you know the average American consumes 17 teaspoons of added sugar daily? That’s nearly 60 pounds a year. But here’s the part we often miss: Your body isn’t designed to handle a flood.

When you eat sugar from a whole apple, the fiber slows it down. It’s a gentle stream.
When you eat sugar from a soda or a "low-fat" yogurt, it’s a firehose.

Your pancreas has to work overtime.
Your liver gets stressed. Your hormones get confused.
And your body starts storing fat instead of burning it.

This is where Stewardship comes in.
God gave us sweet things—honey, dates, fruit.

But He didn’t give us a factory to concentrate them into syrups and powders. When we return to real food, we aren’t "depriving" ourselves.
We are giving our bodies the signals they need to function.

A gentle challenge for this week: Don’t try to cut out everything. Just pick one thing to swap.

🍓Swap the sugary yogurt for plain Greek yogurt with berries.
🍎Swap the "healthy" granola bar for a handful of nuts and an apple.
🍋Swap the sugary drink for sparkling water with a squeeze of lemon.

Small shifts create big changes. And when you nourish your body with real food, the cravings often just… disappear.

👇 What’s one "healthy" food you’re realizing might have hidden sugar?

Let’s help each other read those labels in the comments!

You can't fix your hormones with willpower.

We've been told that if our hormones are out of balance, we just need to "try harder."

Try harder to sleep.
Try harder to eat "clean."
Try harder to manage stress.

But here's the hard truth: Willpower doesn't build hormones.

Your body is a factory. And just like a factory can't build cars without steel, your body can't build estrogen, progesterone, or testosterone without nutrients.

The Science:

Cholesterol is the building block for all your s*x hormones.

Vitamin A is essential for estrogen production.

Omega-3s are needed to reduce inflammation that disrupts your cycle.

If you're eating "low-fat" salads, skipping eggs, or avoiding dairy, you are literally starving your body of the ingredients it needs to function.

God's Design: In Genesis 1:29, God gave us "every seed-bearing plant... and every tree with fruit... for food." He didn't give us "low-fat" diets. He gave us avocados, eggs, nuts, seeds, and healthy fats. These are the only things that can build your hormones.

The Fix: Stop fearing fat. Start eating it.

✅ Eat the yolk (it's not the enemy).

✅ Add avocado to your salad.

✅ Choose grass-fed butter over seed oil.

Your body isn't broken. It just needs the right fuel. When you feed it God's design, your hormones can thrive.

You don't have a willpower problem. You have a biology problem. And it's making you feel like a failure. 📉➡️📈

You've tried the "no sugar" challenge.
You've tried counting calories.
You've tried to "white knuckle" it.
But the cravings always win, and the guilt always follows.

Here is the truth:
Willpower is not a strategy. It is a finite resource that gets depleted when your blood sugar is crashing.

When you are on the rollercoaster, your brain screams for sugar because it thinks you are starving. It's not a moral failing; it's a physiological panic signal.

At Vitae Wellness Co., we don't just tell you what to eat. We look at the root cause. We use evidence-informed nutritional therapy and biblical stewardship to build an individualized protocol for your body.

I thought my stomach pain was just "stress." Until I realized my gut was screaming for help. 🌿
For years, I did everything "right." I ate clean, I moved my body, I prayed. But I still felt bloated, foggy, and anxious. I thought I was just bad at handling stress. I didn't know my gut was leaking.

The turning point came when I realized: Your body is a temple. When the foundation is cracked, the whole building is weak.

Healing the gut isn't about restriction. It's about repair.
✅ Fermented Foods: Raw kefir, sauerkraut, and kimchi are living armies of probiotics that heal your lining.
✅ Bone Broth: Rich in collagen, it acts like a glue to stitch the gut back together.

When I started feeding my gut these specific foods, the bloating vanished. The brain fog cleared. The anxiety dropped. My body began to heal.

Have you ever felt like your body was "leaking"?

I'd love to hear what it took to fix it in the comments.

If you're ready to heal your temple from the inside out, DM me "VITAE" to start your journey, or book a free call through the link in my bio.

I'm here to guide you.
