Does your child survive on the same three foods?

Picky eating is a common parenting challenge, but mealtimes don't have to become a battle.

Keep offering a variety of nutritious foods, give your child some choices, and try not to turn every meal into a negotiation.

If you're concerned about what your child is eating or whether they're getting the nutrition they need, talk with your pediatrician. Sometimes a little guidance can make mealtimes a lot less stressful.

Is Your Child Still Struggling With Bedtime?

Three weeks into school, some kids are still having a hard time settling into a consistent sleep routine.

If bedtime has become a nightly battle, try keeping the same bedtime and wake-up time each day, limiting screens before bed, and creating a calm, predictable routine.

Sometimes consistency is the key to getting those sleep schedules back on track. ๐Ÿ’ค

Babyโ€™s first foods are one of those milestones parents remember forever.

Will they love it? Make a face? Spit it right back out? ๐Ÿ˜‚

When your baby is ready for solid foods, itโ€™s normal for those first tastes to be a little messy and unpredictable. The goal isnโ€™t a clean spoon or an empty bowl. Itโ€™s giving your baby the chance to explore new tastes and textures while learning how to eat.

And that first reaction? It may tell you absolutely nothing about whether theyโ€™ll like it tomorrow!

What was your babyโ€™s first food? Tell us in the comments! ๐Ÿ‘‡

Ever get that feeling that something just isnโ€™t quite right with your child?

Maybe theyโ€™re more tired than usual. Theyโ€™re not acting like themselves. Their appetite has changed. Or you simply have that parent feeling that something is different.

You know your child better than anyone. If something feels off, itโ€™s okay to trust your instincts and check in with their pediatrician.

Sometimes reassurance is all you need. And sometimes, catching a concern early can make a real difference.

When youโ€™re wondering, โ€œIs this normal?โ€ you donโ€™t have to figure it out alone. ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’›

If your child seems healthy, you might wonder if a routine checkup is still necessary.

Thatโ€™s exactly why well visits matter. They give us the chance to check your childโ€™s growth and development, discuss any concerns you may have, and ensure theyโ€™re staying on track as they grow.

Sometimes, the most important pediatric visit is the one where nothing seems wrong. ๐Ÿ’™

If itโ€™s been a while since your childโ€™s last well visit, call Sawgrass Pediatrics to schedule an appointment.

A backpack is part of every school day, but carrying one that is too heavy can put unnecessary strain on a childโ€™s back, shoulders, and neck.

A few tips for safer backpack use:

๐ŸŽ’ Choose a backpack with wide, padded shoulder straps
๐ŸŽ’ Use both shoulder straps to distribute weight evenly
๐ŸŽ’ Keep heavier items closer to the childโ€™s back
๐ŸŽ’ Remove items that arenโ€™t needed each day

A good rule of thumb: a childโ€™s backpack should generally weigh no more than about 10โ€“15% of their body weight.

A comfortable backpack can help kids focus more on learning and less on carrying their school supplies!

A well visit is about much more than height and weight.

During these routine checkups, your childโ€™s pediatrician monitors growth and development, discusses overall health, reviews important milestones, and helps make sure your child is staying on track.

Itโ€™s also a chance for parents to ask questions, share concerns, and get guidance through every stage of childhood.

At Sawgrass Pediatrics, weโ€™re here to support your family with the care and guidance your child needs from infancy through adolescence.
