✨1 week post op from a Revision Closed Rhinoplasty ✨

This patient previously underwent an open rhinoplasty with another surgeon, but continued to experience concerns with both the appearance of her nose and her breathing.

So, what’s the difference between open and closed rhinoplasty?

An open rhinoplasty typically involves an external incision across the columella—the tissue between the nostrils—allowing the nasal skin to be lifted for surgical access. A closed rhinoplasty is performed through incisions hidden entirely inside the nostrils, meaning no external surgical scar.

Revision rhinoplasty is especially complex because the anatomy has already been altered by a previous surgery. Dr. Handal’s goal was not simply to refine her appearance, but to restore structure, function, and balance while using a closed approach.

This patient is 2 months post-op & underwent a vertical mastopexy (breast lift), bilateral implant exchange, bilateral capsulectomy, and liposuction to the sides of the breasts.

A capsule is the layer of scar tissue that the body naturally forms around a breast implant. While this is a normal part of healing, in some patients the capsule can become thick, tight, or distorted, potentially affecting the shape, position, or feel of the breast. A capsulectomy involves surgically removing some or all of this scar tissue to help create a healthier pocket for the new implant and improve the overall contour.
