For years and years, he was sure he was an extrovert. Then in class, Eli Westfall, LMFT mentioned how he scored, and his professor told him, "You're not an extrovert, you're an introvert." His reaction: "I don't think you know me very well at all." He spent the next several years reflecting on it, and admits she saw something no one else at the time saw. He calls it transformative for how he began to understand himself and who he is. Has anyone ever seen something in you before you did?

If he could do one thing differently, Eli Westfall, LMFT says it's this: he would have believed in himself sooner. Instead of being at the beginning of his career, he says, he could be halfway through it by now. His message to his younger self, and to anyone in a similar spot: believe in yourself sooner, don't wait until the last minute, you're in the position you're in for a reason, and listen to what everybody else tells you about yourself, because sometimes the most accurate assessment of us doesn't come from ourselves. What's someone been telling you that you haven't believed yet?
