Pickleball has taken over Boca Raton, and it is easy to see why. It is social, competitive and fun at any age. It also involves plenty of quick overhead shots, sudden reaches and repeated swings, often on the same side of the body.

Shoulders tend to cope best when the muscles around the shoulder blade are strong and the upper back moves freely. A short warm up and regular strength work go a long way.

For players who want a clearer picture of how their shoulder is moving, VADO Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine offers a Free Discovery Visit: https://vadotherapy.com/free-discovery-visit/

Empowering athletes and patients to get back to doing what they love 🦾

The Dominator SR3 is a closed kinetic chain device designed to help post-operative, non-operative, and overhead athletes safely regain shoulder motion, function, and strength.

With adjustable multi-directional movement, rotation, and easy switching between left and right shoulders, it allows for targeted rehab without risking damage to repaired tissue.

We help our patients return to sport, activity, and the quality of life they deserve.

A good night's sleep sets the tone for the whole day, and shoulders have a lot to say about it. Side sleeping puts the lower shoulder under steady pressure, while the top arm can drift forward and pull on the joint for hours. Small adjustments can make nights more comfortable. Hugging a pillow supports the top arm.

Keeping the lower arm out from under the head takes some load off. A pillow that keeps the neck level helps too. Everyone is different, so it is worth experimenting a little.

VADO Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine shares simple, practical tips like this every week.

Walking into a clinic for the first time can feel like a big step, so here is exactly what a Free Discovery Visit involves. It starts with a conversation about what has been going on and, more importantly, what someone wants to get back to, whether that is tennis, gardening or carrying the groceries without a second thought. Next comes a look at how the shoulder and upper body move.

Finally, Domenic Pompile or a member of the team explains what they found and talks through the options. No pressure and no obligation.

Shoulder issues rarely announce themselves with one dramatic moment. More often, they show up quietly in everyday tasks. Reaching for the top shelf, twisting back for a seatbelt, washing hair, tucking in a shirt or rolling onto one side in bed.

Each of these uses a different part of the shoulder's range, so noticing which ones feel stiff or awkward is useful information to share with a physical therapist. Many people simply work around these moments without realizing how much has changed. At VADO Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine, the aim is always to understand movement first.

Save this list for later.

A golf swing looks effortless when it is going well. Behind the scenes, the shoulders rotate, reach and slow the club down in a couple of seconds, and they rely on the upper back and hips to share the work. When one of those areas stiffens up, the shoulder often picks up the slack, which is one reason soreness can creep in after a long round.

The team at VADO Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine looks at the whole chain, not only the shoulder. A Free Discovery Visit is a relaxed conversation about goals and movement.

Think about the moments that make a week feel good. Lifting a grandchild overhead, a Saturday round of golf, a swim at the beach, reaching up to hang a picture. Almost all of them rely on the shoulder, a joint built for a huge range of movement.

That range is a gift, and it also means the shoulder notices when routines change, strength fades or posture drifts. Over the next few weeks, VADO Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine is sharing simple, practical education on how shoulders work and what tends to support them, so more people can keep doing the things they love.

Shoulders make noise sometimes, a click, a crack or a pop during certain movements, and it tends to sound far more alarming than it actually is. In most cases it is gas releasing from the joint or a tendon shifting slightly over bone, not a sign that something is being damaged. It only becomes worth a closer look if it comes with swelling, ongoing soreness or a noticeable loss of movement. The same goes for ice and heat, ice can ease a fresh flare-up, heat can loosen general stiffness before movement, and neither one addresses why the shoulder became sore to begin with.

Tissue adapts to a steady, repeated signal far better than one big effort followed by long gaps of nothing. That is especially true for a shoulder being rebuilt after a period of soreness or inactivity. A short, simple routine done consistently tends to outperform a longer one that gets skipped more often than not. If a plan feels impossible to keep up with, the plan is usually the problem rather than the person trying to follow it.

A Free Discovery Visit is a good starting point for building something realistic and sustainable. https://vadotherapy.com/free-discovery-visit/
