Join me in honoring Memorial Day through learning, through service and support of organizations like Abode Contemplative Care for the Dying, and through honoring those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedoms.
Tomorrow evening we gather for our fifth and final week of ABODE Academy: Around the World in Final Days.
This bonus session will offer a deeper reflection on death in Western culture and military practices as we welcome special guest Gillian Rodriguez to guide the conversation. Together, we’ll explore how identity, service, ritual, grief, and societal perspectives shape the experience of dying and remembrance within these spaces.
Over the past several weeks, we have traveled through traditions, practices, and perspectives from around the world. This final gathering invites us to bring those reflections closer to home as we explore death, dying, and remembrance within Western culture and military practices, and consider how culture shapes the ways we care for one another at the end of life.
We’ll gather tomorrow evening at 6:30 PM (CT) and hold space together for about an hour. Please email [email protected] for the zoom link. A huge thank you to Friends of Hospice San Antonio for sponsoring ABODE Academy.
For those of you following our Memorial Day Challenge in honor of the veterans we have served at ABODE - we are 57% of the way towards our $20,000 goal. Help us reach our goal by next Monday with a donation. We have received word that a generous donor will match all donations up to $10,000. We are humbled and grateful.
