ADAPT was honored to visit local schools across Washington Parish to thank them for their incredible partnership!

We were thrilled to display brand-new billboards at each campus and share a little appreciation to keep our teamwork going strong. Our youth are vital to ADAPT's substance abuse prevention mission, and working alongside our local schools is key to getting critical information directly to our students.

A huge thank you to the Washington Parish School System and Bogalusa City Schools for your continued support of our mission and our community!

On Monday, August 24, several members of the Washington Parish Youth Coalition had the honor of presenting to the Washington Parish Government Council about their experience at the CADCA Mid-Year Training Institute.

Our youth shared what they learned, the meaningful connections they made with national prevention leaders, and how they plan to bring that knowledge home to create positive change among their peers in Washington Parish.

We are incredibly proud of these young leaders and sincerely grateful to the Washington Parish Government Council for your continued support and investment in our youth. Your encouragement provides them with valuable opportunities to grow, develop leadership skills, and become strong voices for positive change in our community.

Representing WPYC were Amanda Normand of Bogalusa High School, Alex Garic of Pine High School, and Katey Stewart of Ben’s Ford Christian School, along with Rusty Fornea, ADAPT, Inc. Executive Director, and Regina Myerchick, WPYC Director.

On National Fentanyl Prevention and Awareness Day, we remember those we’ve lost, and we fight for the ones we can still protect. In 2025, DEA-Drug Enforcement Admin. seized more than 47 million fentanyl-laced counterfeit pills and nearly 10,000 pounds of fentanyl powder—equivalent to more than 369 million lethal doses of fentanyl. So far this year, fentanyl seizures represent over 239 million deadly doses.

Just 2 milligrams—smaller than a grain of salt—can kill. This Justice Department is committed to combating the fentanyl crisis and keeping Americans and our communities safe.

NATIONAL FENTANYL PREVENTION AND AWARENESS DAY

Today, the Office of the District Attorney for the 22nd Judicial District joins communities nationwide in raising awareness about the dangers of fentanyl and the importance of prevention.
