The International Institute for Animal Assisted Play Therapy® was created to advance the development of Animal Assisted Play Therapy® (AAPT) through training, supervision, standards, certification, and continuing professional education. The mission is to ensure the highest quality of professional practice of this approach. The IIAAPT promotes the use of theoretically grounded and empirically-suppo

rted methods. The welfare of human clients as well as nonhuman animal partners is of critical importance, and the training programs and certification process are designed to ensure that all participants benefit from involvement in this approach. This page will include information about many of the activities of the IIAAPT as well as resources that are likely to be of interest.
