Cupping therapy, what’s the purpose?
The purpose of cupping is to help increase blood flow to an area that might be stagnant!
Why do we want to increase blood flow? đź§
Overall it’s better for your well being. Good blood flow throughout the body helps organs function properly. Helps with little (big) things like your heart health and brain activity etc.
What are some benefits of cupping?
•Helps relieve muscle tension
•Improves blood flow
•Helps reduce inflammation
•Helps flush lymphatic system
•Improves digestive system
•Reduces anxiety
•Can be used to help reduce scar appearance and even cellulite
What is the process?
We apply a silicone or plastic cup onto the skin and the cups create a vacuum like suction. We can move them around the body helping rolling the skin, we call this gliding.
We can leave them stationary no more than 10 minutes, which is where the circle cup marking is more likely.
What does it feel like?
The first 30-45 seconds are the strangest as you can some what feel the blood flow raise to the surface of the skin. It doesn’t hurt, if it hurts they might be on a little tight. After a while you forget they are even there. Once removed they can become itchy for a few seconds, that is from the rapid blood flow.
Cupping can leave colored circles/discoloration on the skin. đź’ś
These marks can be pink, red, purple, even a dark purple sometimes. The darker the mark means you’re stagnant and not receiving the blood flow you need! This is normal and will subside within a couple days to weeks.
You’re going to want to drink a lot of water before and after your sessions to help drain your lymphatic system !
