This week I watched something beautiful happen.

A client came in after more than a year of searching for pain relief.

After our session I asked,

“So… where’s your pain now?”

He paused.

There were tears in his eyes.

Then he quietly said,

“There isn’t any.”

A few moments later he began talking about the tension that was still there.

I gently stopped him.

“Let’s not miss this.”

“A little while ago your entire world revolved around pain.”

“Now we’re talking about tension.”

“That is incredible progress.”

It made me realize something.

How often do we become so focused on the next obstacle that we forget to celebrate the mountain we’ve already climbed?

I don’t just see this with pain.

I see it in life.

We pray for something.

We work toward it.

Then when it begins happening, we immediately focus on what’s still missing.

Maybe today is an invitation to pause.

Look back.

Celebrate how far you’ve already come.

Sometimes our bodies arrive before our minds do. ✨

I got a few minutes to myself today…

And I actually got a shower. 😂

As silly as that sounds, when you’re raising babies, running a business, and trying to change the world one body at a time, those little moments feel pretty magical.

Here we go-
Most people think their body is tight because they’re getting older.

But what if that’s not the whole story?

I’m not saying your tension isn’t real.

It is.

The stiffness is real.
The restriction is real.
The pain is real.

But the more I study fascia, movement, and the nervous system, the more I believe that tension is often information.

Your body is constantly adapting to the life you’ve lived.

The stress.
The injuries.
The repetitive movements.
The positions you’ve spent thousands of hours in.

Your body isn’t trying to punish you.

It’s trying to protect you.

The beautiful thing is that when we create space in the body through movement, compression, heat, reach, and rotation, we often create change far beyond the physical tissues.

People breathe deeper.

They move differently.

They think differently.

Sometimes emotions they’ve been carrying for years finally have room to move too.

Healing isn’t just physical.

And it’s not just mental.

It’s both.

We create space in the body.
We create safety in the mind.

And the body does what it was designed to do.

Heal.

✨ We follow the framework. The body does the rest.

P.S. If you’re a parent of littles, tell me I’m not the only one celebrating a shower like I just won the lottery. 😂

The muscle that hurts is usually not the problem.

I know that sounds backwards.

But think about it this way…

Imagine you’re sleeping and your significant other steals all the blankets.

Who’s crying in the middle of the night?

Not the person with all the blankets.

The person freezing on the other side of the bed.

Your body works the same way.

When one big, powerful muscle group gets tight and starts pulling, another muscle often has to work overtime to compensate. That overworked muscle gets tired. It gets irritated. It starts yelling.

And that’s usually the muscle you feel.

The problem?

Most treatments focus on the muscle that’s yelling.

But yelling doesn’t mean guilty.

It often means exhausted.

This is why strengthening the painful area, stretching the painful area, or massaging the painful area sometimes only gives temporary relief.

The muscle that’s hurting may actually be doing its best to protect you.

At Rossiter, we’re always asking a different question:

“What is pulling on this area and making it work so hard?”

Because when we create space in the fascia and reduce the tension causing the tug-of-war, the overworked muscle can finally stop fighting.

And that’s often when the pain starts to disappear.

Stop chasing pain.

Find the pull.

“That muscle is weak.”

Maybe.

But maybe not.

One of the biggest misconceptions I see is that people assume a muscle testing weak means it immediately needs strengthening.

Sometimes that’s true.

But sometimes that muscle is already working overtime.

It’s tired.
It’s restricted.
It’s trapped in a shortened position.

Imagine trying to do a bicep curl when your elbow is already bent all the way.

You don’t have room to generate force.

The same thing happens throughout the body.

I see it every day with glutes, hip flexors, shoulders, and core muscles.

People are told they’re weak.

So they do more squats.
More bridges.
More clamshells.
More strengthening.

And sometimes their pain gets worse.

Not because they’re weak.

Because they’re tight.

Before asking a muscle to work harder, ask:

✨ Does it have enough space to work?

At Treasure Valley Rossiter, we focus on restoring mobility first.

Because when the body has space again, muscles often begin firing normally without a single strengthening exercise.

Mobility before strength.
Space before force.

Have you ever been told something was “weak” only to discover the real issue was somewhere else entirely?

What if your body isn’t fighting you…

What if it’s trying to protect you?

The more I study fascia and the nervous system, the more I see how connected our emotional and physical bodies really are.

Stress changes breathing.
Fear changes movement.
Overwhelm changes tissue tone.

And sometimes the body softens…
when we stop resisting what we feel.

Which is why I love David Hawkins’ work on letting go:
feeling emotions without suppressing, fixing, or fighting them.

Because healing is not always about forcing harder.

Sometimes it’s creating enough safety for the body to finally exhale.

✨ This is exactly the kind of fascia + nervous system education we’re building into My Daily Relief right now.
