Premier Physical Therapy Functional Efficiency

Feeling better doesn’t always mean the problem is gone.

Pain can calm down pretty quickly, but that doesn’t necessarily mean your body is moving, stabilizing, or handling load the way it should.

That’s why I’m looking beyond how you feel today. I want to know why it was hurting in the first place and what we can change to keep it from coming back.

Your foot has a much bigger job than just hitting the ground.

It has to adapt, absorb force, create stability, and then become rigid enough to push you forward again. When it can’t do those things well, the rest of the body has to start helping out.

That’s why I spend so much time looking at how the foot actually moves and functions, not just where someone is feeling discomfort.

Chasing “normal” might be the wrong goal.

Range of motion isn’t one-size-fits-all. What matters is having the mobility your body needs, the control to use it, and the ability to move without unnecessary compensation.

The numbers give us a reference. How you actually function tells us a whole lot more.

Your feet are your foundation, especially when you run.

They’re constantly absorbing force, adapting to the ground, and helping transfer that force back up through the rest of your body. When the foot and ankle aren’t moving or controlling that load well, your body has to find another way to do it.

That’s why I spend time looking at how the feet are moving, not just where someone is feeling pain.

The strangest connection I’ve ever treated ✅ The body can make some pretty wild connections.

One of my favorite parts of what I do is tracing a problem back and finding a connection you’d never expect. The human body doesn’t work as a bunch of separate pieces. Everything works together, and sometimes the smallest detail can completely change how you approach treatment.

Being strong doesn’t always mean being stable 💪

You can move a lot of weight and still have areas of your body that aren’t doing their job efficiently.

• Big muscles can compensate for smaller stabilizers
• Strength can sometimes hide movement dysfunction
• Stability is about control, not just force
• A good assessment helps uncover what strength alone can’t show

Strength matters. But how your body controls that strength matters too.

Always fun working with someone who’s just as interested in the why as I am.

Breaking down what’s happening at the hip, testing it, treating it, and seeing how the body responds. These are the conversations and sessions I really enjoy.

Appreciate Ike Sutton coming in and letting us nerd out a little on this one. 👊

Bodybuilders, this one’s for you. 💪

You spend a lot of time building your body. Make sure you’re also paying attention to how it moves and feels.

The goal isn’t just to be strong. It’s to keep your body capable of handling everything you’re asking it to do.

Runners ask a lot from their bodies.

Sometimes the best thing you can do is slow down long enough to figure out what your body needs, so you can get back to doing what you love.

A little work now can go a long way when there are a lot more miles ahead.

Sometimes dysfunction is actually your body trying to protect you.

The body is incredibly good at adapting, but those adaptations can eventually become part of the problem. Understanding why your body made that change is a big part of getting it back to functioning the way it should.
