What if your child isn’t broken… just stuck?

This conversation is one we wish more parents could hear 🤍

In this 4th episode of Riley's Residence Presents: Extraordinary Lives, Dr. Christian Price and Kerri Price sit down to talk about something so many families are experiencing but rarely explained well:

What happens when a child’s nervous system gets stuck in survival mode.

From ADHD and autism to seizures, developmental delays, sensory challenges, chronic stress, and emotional overwhelm… this episode explores how “fight-or-flight” can impact healing, regulation, behavior, sleep, digestion, focus, and development.

They also share:
• why some therapies seem to stop working
• how birth trauma can affect the nervous system
• why overwhelmed kids often can’t fully adapt or heal
• the emotional toll on parents and caregivers
• real stories of progress, hope, and breakthrough

One of the most powerful parts of this conversation is the reminder that symptoms are often communication, not failure.

Sometimes these kids don’t need more force.
They need support for a nervous system that’s overwhelmed.

You can find Dr. Christian Price at in Boise, Idaho.

Last Mother’s Day, Tatum was 20 weeks pregnant with Waylon 🤍
This year, she gets to celebrate with him in her arms.

We met them earlier this year during postpartum and Waylon’s newborn phase after Tatum’s mom searched for a PX chiropractor for them to start care with.

Tatum has always loved chiropractic care, but shared that this experience felt different because it was the first time she could actually SEE and understand what was going on with her nervous system through scans.

As a first-time mom, she was dealing with sciatic pain, limited mobility, exhaustion, and what Dr. Price called “mommy fatigue.” Even sitting comfortably at the dining table became difficult.

At the same time, Waylon was struggling too. He had difficulty latching, favored one side, became overstimulated during feeds, barely pooped, and was gaining weight very slowly.

Figuring out what worked best for his nutrition became one of the biggest stressors during postpartum.

But slowly, things started changing 🤍

Waylon began gaining weight “like a champ,” gained nearly 7 pounds in 2 months, stopped favoring one side, and started hitting milestones early. After just 6 adjustments, he went from barely pooping to 5 times in one day.

For Tatum, the wins felt just as meaningful. Her sciatic pain drastically decreased, she almost touched her toes for the first time, and she noticed less and less “mommy fatigue.”

One thing she said that really stuck with us:
“I learn every time I come into the office and I love it.”

She also shared that she had no idea caffeine wasn’t actually giving her energy, and understanding how burnt out her nervous system was helped so many things make sense.

Now they’ve completed their restorative care plans and transitioned into wellness care as a family 🤍

Tatum shared that Summit Life became “the best type of community” during such an important season of motherhood.

If you’ve ever had a child spike a fever, you know how fast everything shifts 🤍
The warmth, the clinginess, the checking their forehead over and over… and that quiet question
am I handling this right?

Fevers are incredibly common, making up about a third of all pediatric visits.

A fever is often thought of as “just a high temperature,” but it’s more than that.

It’s a coordinated neuroimmune response.
Your child’s brain, nervous system, and immune system are working together on purpose.

When the body detects something it doesn’t want there, it signals the brain.
The hypothalamus, your child’s internal thermostat, helps raise temperature to support healing.

That shift isn’t random. It’s intentional.

Here’s a simple way to understand the ranges:
• Low-grade: 99.6–100.9°F
• Moderate: 101–103°F
• High: above 103°F

Each level reflects how actively the immune system is responding.

That increase in temperature can help slow down bacteria and viruses while helping immune cells work more efficiently.

It’s one of the clearest signs the body is actively working and adapting.

But how well your child can adapt and regulate a fever response often comes back to the nervous system.

If that system is stuck in stress or not communicating well, the body may struggle to respond or recover efficiently.
That can look like staying sick longer or symptoms coming back more often.

🚨 This is where neurologically-focused chiropractic care comes in 🤍
We focus on how the nervous system is functioning, because that system controls how your child adapts, heals, and responds to stress.

When communication improves, the body can respond with more balance.

We see this a lot with Boise families, especially during seasonal shifts 🌿

Support at home can look like:
• Hydration
• Rest
• Light clothing
• Calm environment

And know when to get extra support. If your child is very lethargic, not drinking fluids, has a persistent high fever, or something doesn’t feel right, it’s okay to have them checked.

If you’ve ever felt unsure navigating fevers, you’re not alone.

What were you taught about fevers growing up? 🤍

If you’re a parent navigating autism or developmental delays… this story might feel familiar

We first met Yuna at the beginning of December, and just last week in April, she graduated from her Restorative care plan here at Summit Life Chiropractic🤍

Watching her journey over these past few months has been nothing short of incredible.

Yuna came to us with a history of moderate Autism and Global Developmental delay and was currently in ABA therapy. Her family had been navigating recurring ear and sinus infections, constipation, frequent illness, antibiotic overload, and behavioral challenges.

Even though she was reaching milestones, everything felt slower and harder. She had also been diagnosed with global developmental delay (GDD), and her parents noticed she often struggled with coordination and motor movement.

Her mom had a long labor that required vacuum assistance, and one of their biggest questions was something so many parents quietly wonder…

👉 Could that early stress have impacted her nervous system?

They had already been doing so much to support her.
Therapies. Appointments. The day-to-day effort it takes to care for a child who needs extra support.

But they were still searching for answers.

From the very beginning, their heart was simple, they wanted to better understand what her body needed and how to support her.

As care began, Yuna was a little unsure at first. This was all new for her.

But over time, something really special happened.

She found comfort here 🤍
Especially with her favorite Summit Life friend… Mr. Panda 🐼

Each visit became more familiar, this was and is a safe place for her, and with it, she began to find her rhythm...

If you’ve dealt with ear infections as a parent, you know how exhausting it can be. The discomfort, the sleepless nights, and trying to figure out what actually helps, especially when it keeps coming back.

What many parents aren’t told is that recurring ear infections often come down to one thing: drainage. When the ears can’t properly clear fluid, it builds up and creates the kind of environment where infections keep returning.

There are a few layers to that. Allergies are a big one, especially here in Boise with how strong our seasons can be. Congestion and inflammation can block those pathways. But there’s also a deeper piece that often gets missed.

Inside the ear is a small muscle called the tensor veli palatini.

It helps open the ear so fluid can drain. When it’s not getting proper nerve signals, it doesn’t work as well, and fluid can stay stuck.

That’s where the nervous system comes in. It controls that muscle, along with immune response and inflammation. When it’s under stress, the body can struggle to fully clear what’s going on.

About 25% of kids deal with recurring ear infections, and over time that can impact hearing, sleep, and overall quality of life.

We saw this with Ellis, a 7-year-old here in our community. After a long history of ear challenges and eventually getting tubes, he came in quietly and unsure. A few visits in, playing dinosaurs with our team, he began to open up. As we’ve supported him, we’ve seen consistent drainage start, that thick fluid finally moving. Over the past few weeks, his hearing has improved, he’s responding quicker, smiling more, and connecting with other kids again. It’s been special to watch him settle back into who he is.

If this is something your family has been walking through, you’re not alone 🤍

Comment "EARS" and we’ll send you Dr. Tony’s video on the #1 hidden cause of chronic ear infections 🎥

Last year was something really special… and this year is going to mean even more. 💃🕺

If you were there, you remember it. The laughter, the music, the dancing, the food, and a room full of people who truly care about this community.

But what makes this night different is the heart behind it.

Riley and his mom Michelle are part of our Summit Life family. We’ve had the honor of walking alongside them in their health journey, and this is our chance as a community to show up for them in a bigger way.

Riley’s Residence is creating a loving, stable home for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities right here in the Treasure Valley. A place where they can build friendships, grow in independence, and feel truly supported.

This year’s Hot Havana Nights gala is not just a fun night out… it’s a way to be part of something that changes lives.

Your ticket helps support housing, therapies, caregiver support, and real opportunities for families who need it most.

This is one of those nights you leave feeling full in every way.
