The Idaho Health Care Association team is having a great time at the American Health Care Association/National Center for Assisted Living 2026 Delivering Solutions Conference in Boston, Massachusetts! One of the highlights of this event has been reconnecting with so many of our fellow IHCA members and colleagues from across the country. It's always inspiring to come together with individuals who share a passion for strengthening long-term care and improving the lives of those we serve. Recently, the Idaho Health Care Association team had the opportunity to tour Cherry Ridge of Cascadia in Emmett alongside Senator C. Scott Grow, Preston Rowe, LNHA, and Steve LaForte. Preston, the administrator at Cherry Ridge, has a genuine heart for the residents he serves, and that compassion is reflected throughout his team. It was wonderful to see firsthand the commitment of those who work each day to care for Idaho’s seniors. The visit also provided an opportunity for meaningful conversation about the future of health care in Idaho, including Medicaid reimbursement and some of the challenges and opportunities facing long-term care providers.

We appreciate the Cherry Ridge of Cascadia team for opening their doors and sharing their experiences, and Senator Grow for taking the time to listen, ask questions, and learn more about the realities facing long-term care providers and the people they serve. These conversations and connections are important as we continue working to strengthen long-term care across Idaho. Connecting Idaho’s long-term care providers with those who serve, and seek to serve, our communities creates valuable opportunities to share what is happening firsthand in our profession. Recently, Caroline Mooreore and her team at CareMoore Homes Assisted Living & Memory Care welcomed Dori Healey and Desi Burbank for a tour and conversation about long-term care in District 15. Healey currently represents District 15B in the Idaho House and is a candidate for reelection, while Burbank is a candidate for Idaho Senate District 15.

During the visit, the CareMoore team discussed some of the challenges facing assisted living providers, including ongoing staffing shortages and the importance of providing individualized, resident-centered care. CareMoore Homes’ smaller, homelike environment and lower resident-to-caregiver ratios allow team members to focus on getting to know each resident and providing care tailored to their individual needs.

We’re grateful to Caroline and the CareMoore Homes team for opening their doors and sharing their experiences, and to Dori and Desi for taking the time to visit, listen, and learn more about the realities facing long-term care providers in District 15. These conversations help ensure the experiences of Idaho’s providers, caregivers, residents, and families are part of the broader discussion about long-term care in our state. Building connections between long-term care providers and Idaho’s policymakers is an important part of strengthening understanding of the needs of our profession. Recently, Ben Palumbo, Administrator of Life Care Centers of America of Post Falls, welcomed Idaho Senator Carl Bjerke for a tour of the community. Senator Bjerke represents District 5 and brings extensive health care and public safety experience to his role, including a 32-year career in public safety. Visits like these provide an opportunity for our Idaho Health Care Association members to share firsthand perspectives on the work happening inside Idaho’s long-term care communities, the challenges providers face, and the important role they play in caring for Idahoans.

Thank you to Ben and the team at Life Care Center of Post Falls for opening their doors, and to Senator Bjerke for taking the time to visit, listen, and learn more about long-term care in Idaho.

We appreciate opportunities that bring providers and policymakers together for meaningful conversations about the future of health care in our state. Learn more about Life Care Center of Post Falls at https://lcca.com/locations/id/post-falls/
