Cesarean birth is already stressful enough so we should be working to make it the most family centered and the best case scenario. And I know that there are times where emergent things happen and things have to move fast, but when we can take the moments, which is more times than not, we should be doing everything we can to make it an experience that they can enjoy. Here they drop the drape, do some delayed cord clamping, then baby goes directly skin to skin. The dad even gets to cut the cord. Sometimes babies initiate breast-feeding in the OR. But as much skin to skin as possible. If not, Dad or the partner should be set up to be able to do skin to skin. And I love how the provider takes the extra moment herself to tuck baby in before they transfer her to the bed to roll out of the OR. The small touches makes such a big difference!

Normally I take 4-6 clients in a month but sometimes things just happen differently. ❤️Thankfully I made it to every birth!!!❤️ Thankfully many first time moms had “fairly” quick births. I even had my daughter’s graduation from college with no one going into labor—but back up was ready!!! Thanks to Stephani .doula for sitting with my clients in the beginning of their induction while I down the hall. Loving what I do and loving my clients AND having a supportive husband make this job so worth it. Stats:

🌟Our birth community had the privilege to learn and practice breech delivery skills. As a Doula, I wasn’t learning to actually use the physical skills, but I chose to participate so I could learn and understand more about this VARIATION of birth. ➡️➡️➡️These skills need to be brought back and offered as an option for women wanting that choice. As a Doula, I feel having a deeper understanding of how breech babies are born helps me explain it to my clients and helps them ask good questions so they can feel they’re making an informed choice.

🤯Dad catching the baby? Did you know that this is a thing? 🤩➡️So many care providers are open to parents helping catch their babies. Sometimes it depends on the circumstances or the position that their partner is birthing in, but if you are interested in this experience, have a chat with your partner and your birth team.❤️

Your baby is breech!!! Hearing this can be a very emotional and maybe scary time. My support will help you feel more calm and confident about making choices. We’ll discuss your different options and then I’ll help you move forward with your plan. If an ECV is part of it, I’ll give you a set of movements and stretches to prepare ahead of time and of course, we always hope that that’s going to help baby move on their own.
