Busy Bee Therapy, LLC

Busy Bee Therapy, LLC Services include therapeutic evidence based interventions and therapy for children, adolescents, and adults. Fully licensed in CO, FL, UT, ID, MI, and VT.

Sometimes stuff happens that is out of our control. Kids especially can be affected by this. At Busy Bee Therapy, our goal is to provide kids and families with effective therapeutic interventions for a variety of issues. Although our specialty is trauma based services, we also provide treatment for mood and anxiety disorders as well. We also provide parenting services using the Circle of Security

curriculum or the Safe Care curriculum. As all families are different, we avoid a "one size fits all" mentality. Interventions, skills, and techniques are tweaked to specific family needs. You may be wondering about me--what makes me qualified to do this? Well, firstly, I earned a masters degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of Colorado (go buffs!) Secondly, I've lived in a variety of places over my career, and have four current, active licenses in four different states; Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in Idaho; Clinical Mental Health Counselor in Utah; a Licensed Addictions Counselor in Colorado; and a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Florida. While living in Colorado, I was faculty at the University of Colorado Medical School in the Department of Pediatrics since 2009, and was affiliated with the University of Colorado Hospital and Children's Hospital Colorado since 2007. I worked with the Kempe Center for the Prevention and Treatment of Child Abuse and Neglect from 2007 to 2014, and have experience working with families in crisis, who have experienced traumatic events, and parents who simply aren't sure where to go and what to do with children who are having difficulties. I will 100% brag about my colleagues at the medical school and hospitals--they were amazing, and the training I received in a variety of therapeutic interventions was among the best in the country--and I am grateful for it. I have been trained in such modalities as Child Parent Psychotherapy, Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Prolonged Exposure, Circle of Security, Exposure and Response Prevention Therapy, play therapy, Safe Care, Safe Start, and others. Working at university and hospital settings, as well as in private practice, allowed me to work with various community organizations and with a variety of families from different backgrounds and with various needs. Working with families to improve the lives of children is something I am passionate about. I look forward to working with your family soon!

As both a therapist and a parent, this short PSA episode from Crime Ju**ie really got my attention.

AI technology has become powerful enough that scammers can now clone voices and create convincing images to make it appear that a loved one is in danger. In some cases, families have received frantic phone calls that sound exactly like their child or family member, only to discover it was part of a scam designed to extort money.

One of the simplest things families can do right now is establish a "safe word" or "safe phrase" that only the people in your inner circle would know. Our family has had one since our kids were little. Originally, it was a way to protect them if someone ever tried to pick them up and claimed Mom or Dad sent them because of an emergency. Now that our kids are older, have phones, social media, and their own digital footprint, that same safe word has taken on a whole new purpose.

No one ever thinks they'll be the target of a scam like this until it happens. A five-minute conversation with your family today could save you a lot of fear, confusion, and potentially money down the road.

Better to be prepared than assume it could never happen to you.

Today I had the chance to attend the open house for Oak Ridge Recovery, and I couldn't be more excited for my dear friend, Danielle Fanopoulos, and the incredible team she has assembled.

I've known Danielle for years, and one of the things I admire most about her is that she has always cared deeply about doing what is best for the people she serves, even when it isn't the easiest or most profitable path. That heart and commitment are evident in every aspect of Oak Ridge Recovery.

What impressed me most is their whole-person approach to treatment. Recovery is rarely just about one issue. It touches every part of a person's life, and Oak Ridge Recovery recognizes that lasting healing requires addressing the physical, emotional, psychological, and relational aspects of well-being. Their focus is on providing individualized, high-quality care rather than simply moving large numbers of people through a program.

As mental health professionals, we know that the Treasure Valley desperately needs more treatment options that are both clinically sound and genuinely compassionate. Oak Ridge Recovery fills an important gap in our community, and I am thrilled to see a program built on integrity, connection, and a true commitment to helping people heal.

They are now open and accepting clients and work with commercial insurance plans as well as TRICARE.

Congratulations, Danielle! I know how much time, energy, sacrifice, and heart went into bringing this vision to life. The Treasure Valley is fortunate to have Oak Ridge Recovery, and I have no doubt that countless individuals and families will benefit from the care and hope you are bringing to our community. ❀️

You answer one email. Then another. Then check a notification. Your child asks a question. You say ""in a minute"" without looking up.

That is phubbing. Phone snubbing. And the research is devastating.

A 2023 meta analysis of over 50,000 families found that parental phubbing increases serious child behavior problems by 2.5 times. Not small. Not subtle. Two and a half times more aggression, emotional outbursts, and attention seeking behavior.

Here is why. Children learn how to attach and regulate by watching your face. Your eyes. Your expression. Your response time. When your phone consistently wins that attention battle, their nervous system learns something painful. I am less important than the glowing rectangle.

That is not abstraction. That is daily experience repeated thousands of times.

The term digital orphans is not hyperbole. It describes children who live in the same house as their parents but receive fragmented, inconsistent, distracted attention. Their needs are met physically. But emotionally, they are competing with a device for eye contact.

The solution is not guilt. It is boundaries. Phone free zones. The dinner table. The car ride home. The first ten minutes after school. Your child does not need perfection. They need you to look up.

Put the phone down before they stop asking.

Today, we remember and honor the men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Memorial Day

At Busy Bee Therapy, we also recognize that holidays like this can bring up many different emotions. For some, it is a day of gratitude and connection. For others, it may bring grief, loss, trauma memories, loneliness, or complicated family experiences. All of those reactions are valid.

As you move through today, we hope you are gentle with yourself and the people around you. Take time to rest, connect, reflect, laugh, grieve, unplug, or simply breathe outside for a moment if you can.

And to the military families, veterans, and loved ones carrying the memory of someone lost, we are holding space for you today. ❀️

Positive experiences are important, esp in the darkest struggles and should not be contingent on anything outside of our control. To be effective parents, we need to take care of ourselves to take care of our kids (and anyone else who depends on us). It's okay to experience joy during times of pain or grief. It's even more important to know it's possible in the first place.

Focus on filling yourself up. You can't give from an empty well.
