One of the coolest things I think I’ve ever done is surprise Nick with a live performance by his favorite singer/songwriter, Marty O'Reilly!

Nick introduced me to Marty’s music in 2022, when we first started dating. In 2023 we drove to Canada and saw him play live. We got the honor of meeting both him & his wife Caroline that trip, and were blown away not only by the best live show I had ever seen, but by how sweet, genuine, and grounded they seemed to be as people.

We drove home back to Idaho the following day, and I thought to myself “if I end up marrying this man, it would be cool to have Marty play at our wedding.” Shortly after Nick & I got engaged, I figured it couldn’t hurt to investigate what that might entail- if it were even possible.

For a year and a half, I kept this a secret. I was so excited to pull this off. EVERYBODY else knew. I talked about it constantly so I wouldn’t accidentally let something out while I was with Nick. Many people supported the realization of this dream- my brother providing the sound equipment and making sure Marty’s set up and sound was on point, the venue owners Phil & Donna, my day of coordinators Short n Sweet Events, LLC (ashley short & Tatumn), my photographer & videographer for both distracting Nick as we hid Marty in the Sweet Shop before my speech, AND for capturing the entire thing in such beautiful photos & videos… this was what I was most nervous about at our wedding and it went better than I ever could have imagined.

Marty O'Reilly thank you so much for traveling to Idaho to make this day uniquely unforgettable and feel so much like us! Thank you for helping me pull off the biggest surprise I’ve ever given so seamlessly!

Neither of us will ever forget that day, and consensus from everyone who attended; from guests and vendors alike- you truly are amazing.

With so much loss and fear in 2025, I was profoundly grateful to have my parents both alive and well to witness me marrying Nicholas.

My dad and my brothers are good men. They are honorable, funny, loving, conscientious, multifaceted. They are the men who surrounded me as I grew up, and the men that taught me what it feels like to feel safe and loved. They taught me what to look for in a partner.

During our wedding day, each of these men separately told me how incredibly proud they were of me. It was on repeat in the soundtrack to this day. The fact that these men- who have witnessed me in every phase of life and who love me wholeheartedly- were proud of who I choose to marry, made me feel incredibly proud of myself. Who you choose to marry/ spend your life with is one of the biggest decisions you will ever make. It’s amazing to see how much Nicholas has enhanced my life, how much I have settled into myself since falling in love with him.

I am grateful beyond measure to have such amazing men in my life. Not every girl is so lucky, and I know that.

Labor Day Weekend • 2026 • Hiawatha Trail • Northern Idaho

Born in Idaho, back in Idaho for seventeen years and I had never even heard of this bike trail in northern Idaho: the Hiawatha Trail.

A former railroad line, the Route of the Hiawatha was converted into a spectacularly beautiful, gentle 15-mile downhill biking and walking trail. Known as the “Crown Jewel” of rail-to-trails, this route showcases ten tunnels, including the 1.6 mile St. Paul Pass Tunnel, and seven sky-high trestle bridges. One of our best friends suggested the trip, and had done it once before.

I have some anxiety when it comes to biking. I had a terrible accident when I was nine, flipping over the handle bars and skidding to a halt face first in freshly slurry sealed pavement. Growing up in Mexico wasn’t the idyllic childhood biking environment. I don’t think I owned a bike between the ages of nine and twenty five. Then, undergoing four labial surgeries in my late twenties made biking a total pipe dream.

To go on a biking trip with my husband, my in-laws, some of our best friends- all people who came into my life after undergoing my chapter as a medical mystery- was one of those moments I took in as a complete and absolute gift. To be at a place in my healing journey that has allowed me to get back on a bike is monumental. While the Hiawatha Trail is an easy trail to ride on, it symbolized for me making it to a place in my life I truly dreamed of and wasn’t sure would ever happen. No longer living in chronic pain, married to my best friend, doing things I never thought I’d be able to do.

Does biking still feel somewhat terrifying? Absolutely!

We have the saying “it’s just like riding a bike” for a reason- it didn’t take long for me to get back into the groove of it. Not only that, but I am stronger and have better balance than I ever have before- both on and off a bike.

I am not the same woman I once was, I am the most authentic version of myself. A little older, a little wiser, overwhelmingly grateful for my health. I will never take it for granted.

This trip was an adventure- with family and friends- and beyond that, it felt like an arrival to a new place in my journey

The wedding dress of my dreams. This dress was absolute magic. I purchased this Allure Bridals dress at Kate’s Bridal Cottage in Meridian, Idaho. I had my perfect say yes to the dress moment, and the day I wore it was absolutely the most amazing day of my life thus far. This dress felt like me, and I felt like my best self in it. Forever going to love my wedding dress and am so grateful for our incredible photographer Idaho Wedding Photo and Video for capturing the wedding dress moment of my dreams. ♥️

My dear sweet niece Aggie crossed the rainbow bridge today. She was the best girl. She loved with an intensity I’ve never before known in a dog. I must have walked a thousand miles with her. Words can’t even begin to describe how much I will miss her, but I’m so incredibly thankful for the lessons she brought into my life over the last thirteen and a half years. To name a few:

• Life is too good to dwell on the pain. Pain is a part of life, but suffering is optional.

• Some fresh air and a walk will cure almost any ailment.

• I am loved even when I feel unlovable.

• Being with your people brings healing & happiness.

• Never be afraid to use your voice.

• Always listen to my big brother.

• Must respect the cats.

• Always look forward to life’s treats, because the universe will always provide them.

• The more you love, the more love you get.

• There’s no such thing as being “too much”.

Aunt Indy will never forget you, sweet girl. I will miss you every day for the rest of my life ♥️

I’ve been teaching Power Flow on Monday evenings for ALMOST NINE YEARS! It is still one of the best parts of my day.

I don’t recommend it for your first ever yoga class; do at least 2-3 slower flow classes to familiarize yourself with the names of the poses- but otherwise, don’t be intimidated to try it out!

If you keep coming back, I promise you will see progress, build strength, mobility, and confidence!

I wasn’t a little girl who dreamed of her wedding day. I didn’t know I wanted a wedding really until Nick proposed to me.

The idea of having our favorite people together with us was something my heart yearned for. That was the reason I wanted a wedding, and in all of the planning and stress I really tried to stay connected to this foundational desire: to honor quality time with our favorite people. I wanted to be witnessed in this moment together- our commitment to each other, our love for each other. It felt meaningful to me to stand before our friends and family.

My decisions for our wedding really stemmed from feeling. I knew I had found my dress because it felt like me. I chose decor pieces, the vendors, the timeline, all based off how it felt in my gut and in my heart.

It was the biggest experience I have ever created, and it was the absolute best day of my life.
