95 years old, nearly 500 songs, and a lifetime of love for music. 🎹💛

Meet Lou Newman, a resident at StoryPoint Carmel whose piano playing brings a little extra joy to her neighbors every day!

Whether she's welcoming visitors with a familiar tune, accompanying the resident choir, or playing a song that takes someone back to a special moment, Lou knows just how powerful music can be.

“People stop by the piano every day, they say, ‘I was so down this morning, but when I heard your music, it made me happy.’ So, how can you not play?”

We love seeing Lou's incredible story and passion for music in the spotlight! Read more about her lifelong love of music below. 💛

Louise Newman never gets tired of playing the piano. The 95-year-old, who everyone calls Lou, plays daily where she lives at StoryPoint Carmel, formerly Woodland Terrace of Carmel. There is a piano in the main area. “We have a piano or keyboard in every major room in this facility,” said Newma

Next up in our Life Stories series is Diantha, our Assistant Wellness Director. ❤️

We asked Diantha when she realized nursing was more than just a job to her. She shares a deeply personal story about her son’s hospitalization and how witnessing the empathy, skill, and compassion of the nurses caring for him during one of their family’s most vulnerable moments left a lasting impact on her.

That experience helped shape the nurse she is today and continues to influence the way she cares for others. Sometimes, the moments that touch our own lives the most become the very reason we dedicate ourselves to helping others.

Terry has been part of our community for eight years, even before the building was a building! We asked him to share the moment he realized this was more than just a job and how the residents and connections he’s made along the way have become so much more than coworkers and familiar faces.

Over the years, this community has become like family to Terry, and his story is a beautiful reminder that sometimes the most meaningful part of a job isn’t the work itself, but the people who make it special.
