JERRY T SKINNER

Jerry T Skinner of Westville FL passed away peacefully on June 3rd, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on January 16th, 1958, in Geneva, AL.

Jerry lived a life defined by hard work, kindness, and a deep appreciation for the simple joys of country living. He found his greatest happiness outdoors, whether tending to his garden, working on his tractors, or enjoying the peace and beauty of rural life. His garden was a source of pride, reflecting the patience, care, and dedication he brought to everything he did.

A lifelong lover of the countryside, Jerry could often be found on a tractor, maintaining his property or helping a neighbor in need. He valued honest work, cherished time spent with family and friends, and passed along lessons of perseverance, humility, and respect for the land. Jerry was a source of knowledge and a beloved mentor to many people.

For many years, Jerry worked in road construction, a career he took great pride in. Throughout his working life, he was employed with Couch, C.W. Roberts, and Roberts & Roberts, where he earned the respect of his coworkers through his strong work ethic, reliability, and commitment to getting the job done right. He helped build and improve roads that served countless communities, leaving a lasting impact through his work.

He will be remembered for his gentle spirit, strong work ethic, and the wisdom he shared with those fortunate enough to know him.

Jerry is survived by his beloved wife Sharon Skinner. His brother Thomas Skinner and his wife Jennifer Skinner. Stepson James Jarrard and daughter in law Andrea Jarrard. Granddaughters Holly Jarrard and Eva Jarrard. Grandaughter Jenna Sims and her husband Anthony "G" Sims. As well as many other relatives and friends who will miss him dearly.

Jerry was preceded in death by his father Clyde Skinner and mother Lonie Skinner. As well as his brother Clyde "John" Skinner.

A graveside service will be held at 11:30 AM Saturday, June 6th, 2026, in the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 AM Saturday at Peel Funeral Home.

Mr. Willie Hilton Davis, age 80, of Caryville, Florida passed away May 20, 2026, at his home. He was born on June 16, 1945, in Washington County, Florida. Willie was preceded in death by his father, Aubrey Davis, his mother, Doris Boncile Murphy Herrington, his stepfather, John Dell Herrington, and one brother, Charles Davis.

Mr. Davis is survived by his wife, Marilyn Davis of Caryville, FL; one son, Aubrey Davis of Lake Wales, FL; two stepchildren, Paula Owens and husband Jack of Lake Wales, FL and Don Hicks of Orlando, FL; two grandchildren, Hunter and Lily of Lake Wales, FL; one sister, Diann Register and husband Coleman of Vernon, FL.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, May 26, 2026, in the Peel Funeral Home Chapel. Ms. Dollie Belle Gillis, age 87, of Westville, Florida passed away May 19, 2026, at Southeast Health in Dothan, Alabama. She was born February 4, 1939, in Westville, Florida to the late Lewis Gordon Smith and Ruby Mae Hood Smith. In addition to her parents, Dollie was preceded in death by her husband, Angus Dee Gillis, two brothers, Allen Smith and Dewey Smith, and two grandchildren, Camron Kilpatrick and Jeremy Land.

Ms. Gillis is survived by three children, Larry Gillis and wife Phyllis of Middleburg, FL, Sandra Kilpatrick and husband Chris of Geneva, AL, and Myra Hayes of Dothan, AL; four brothers, Bud Smith and wife Cindy of Locust Grove, GA, James Smith and wife Pat of Westville, FL, Jerry Smith and wife Angie of Westville, FL, and Kenny Smith and wife Sharon of Westville, FL; the best Nana to six grandchildren, Brandi Gillis, Brittany Cherry, Larry Gillis Jr., Brooklyn Kilpatrick, Taylor Corbin, and Samantha Rustin, and eight great-grandchildren, Harmony, Peyton, Kennedy, Kenley, Ellie, Emrie, Hance, and Hux; numerous nieces, nephews, and special friends.

Leroy was preceded in death by his father, Walter Benjamin Cooper, his mother, Catherine Thomley Cooper Wages, two brothers, Jerry Cooper and Clinton Cooper, and three sisters, Edna Carmley, Gladys Galloway, and Lettie Collins.

Mr. Stephen M. Burroughs, age 61, passed May 16, 2026, at Bonifay Nursing and Rehab Center in Bonifay, Florida. He was born on October 28, 1964, in Jacksonville, Florida. Stephen was preceded in death by his father, Franklin Delanor Burroughs, his mother, Lou Hazel Collins Burroughs, and one brother, John David Smith.

Mr. Burroughs is survived by two uncles, Rev. Larry Collins and wife Ruth of Bryceville, FL and Joseph L. Collins of Panama City, FL; several nephews, cousins, and friends.

Mr. Glenn Eugene Rich, age 76, of Bonifay, Florida passed away May 7, 2026, at Ascension Sacred Heart Bay in Panama City, Florida. He was born on September 8, 1949, in Tampa, Florida. Glenn was preceded in death by his father, Palmer Eugene Rich, his mother, Syble Earline Pippin Harcus, and his loving wife of 50 years, Brenda Miller Rich.

Mr. Rich is survived by one son, John Bradley Rich and wife Erin of Tallahassee, FL; one grandson, Kevin Grady Rich of Tallahassee, FL; two siblings, Jimmy Rich and wife Kathy of Bonifay, FL and Debbie Lively and husband Doug of Cary, NC; several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Billy Joe Mitchell, age 59, of Caryville, Florida passed away May 4, 2026. He was born on August 6, 1966, in Marion County, Florida. Billy Joe was preceded in death by his father, Willie Mac Mitchell and two brothers, William Mitchell and Edward Connell.

Mr. Mitchell is survived by his daughters, Cheyenne Mitchell and Summer Pippin; one grandson, Kole Riley; his mother, Edna Clarice Guerrant; his biological mother, Karen Moore; four sisters, Darla Sue Woods, Violet Mitchell, Amber Mitchell, and Michell Connell; best friend and mother of his daughter, Kristie Tillis; several nieces and nephews.

Ms. Dorothy Dale Forehand Chesnut, age 91, of Bonifay, Florida passed away April 30, 2026, at her home. She was born on February 7, 1935, in Washington County, Florida. Dorothy was preceded in death by her mother, Jessie Mae Thames Forehand, her husband, Jerry Edward Chesnut, and several siblings.

Ms. Chesnut is survived by two daughters, Suzanne Paramore and husband Charles and Lisa Messer; one son, Arthur Robert Williams; four grandchildren, Sean Williams, Michael Williams, Charles Paramore III, and Ian Messer; one great-grandchild, Dottie Williams; several nieces and nephews.

RICHARD PHILLILP SLAY

Mr. Richard Phillip Slay, age 75, of Bonifay, Florida went to be with his Lord and Savior on April 27, 2026, at his home surrounded by family. He was born on April 20, 1951, in Chipley, Florida to the late Houston Slay and Elvie Cutchins Slay. In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by one brother, David Slay.

Richard Slay was a man whose life was rooted in faith, love, and service to others. He devoted his life to sharing the message of Jesus Christ, leading countless people to the Lord through both his work and everyday conversations. Whether serving as a correctional officer or as the owner of the Bonifay Athletic Club, Richard never missed an opportunity to speak to someone about his faith.

A faithful servant, Richard wore many hats within the church. He was a preacher, a teacher, a song leader, and an elder who always was willing to step in wherever he was needed. His love for people was evident in the way he lived, but his love for Jesus was even greater, guiding every aspect of his life. His impact will be felt for generations to come

Above all, Richard was a devoted family man. He was a loving husband and proudly held the title of “Papa,” a role he cherished deeply. To his family, he was not only a provider and protector, but a spiritual leader and constant source of strength and encouragement. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Mr. Slay is survived by his wife of 33 years, Tammy Slay; five children, Stacy Slay, Amy Jernigan and Mickey, Sherry Young, Johnny Slay and Julie, and Dawn Hersman; four siblings, Suzanne Scott, Buddy Slay and Mary, Roger Slay and Brenda, and Nancy Dunn and Max K***z; nine grandchildren, Houston Lane Jernigan and Makenzy, Madison White, Samantha Slay, Ethan Slay and Emily, Dylan Hersman, Braydon Young, Dalton Hersman, Jaren Manuel, and Jaylee Manuel; two great-grandchildren, Audrey Jernigan and Elijah Slay; numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, May 2, 2026, at Bethlehem Baptist Church with Rev. Wesley Adams officiating. Memorialization will be by cremation with Peel Funeral Home and Bonifay Crematory in charge of arrangements.
