STEVIE MARK SMITH

Mr. Stevie Mark Smith, age 57, of Bonifay, Florida, passed away July 23, 2026. He was born on August 22, 1968, in Geneva, Alabama. Steve was preceded in death by his father, Johnny Smith, his mother, Thelma Gibson Smith, and four siblings, Wayne Smith, Angie Grider, Kenny Smith, and Ricky Smith.

Mr. Smith is survived by his significant other, Tammie Thomas Ellis; one daughter, Dana Smith; one son, Tyler Smith and wife Brittany; two grandchildren, Katherine Williams and Dexter Smith; four siblings, Janice Smith, Gayle Simmons, Jerome Smith, and Susie Kincaid and husband Jeff; brother-in-law, Dana Grider; sister-in-law, Becky Smith; numerous nieces and nephews.

A 1989 graduate of Bethlehem High School, Steve was known for his strong work ethic and exceptional skill as a master machinist. He took great pride in his craft and was respected by all who had the opportunity to work alongside him.

Family was at the center of Steve’s life. He devoted countless hours to coaching peewee football and baseball, cherishing the opportunity to mentor and encourage his children’s teams. His patience, enthusiasm, and positive spirit made a lasting impact on the young athletes he coached.

Steve found peace and joy in God’s creation. He loved nature and spent many hours gardening, hiking in his younger years, and kayaking with family and friends. In later years, nothing brought him greater happiness than spending time with his beloved grandchildren, playing with them, making memories, and sharing his love of the outdoors.

Known as a friend to everyone, Steve never met a stranger. His warm smile, generous heart, and willingness to lend a helping hand will be remembered by all who knew him. Whether cheering on his favorite team—the Alabama Crimson Tide with a heartfelt “Roll Tide!”—or spending time with family and friends, Steve embraced life with joy and appreciation. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who were blessed to know and love him.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 6 PM Thursday, July 30, 2026, at Peel Funeral Home. A celebration of Steve’s life will be held at 6:00 PM Thursday, July 30, 2026, in the Peel Funeral Home Chapel. LIAM HAYES HENDRIX

Liam Hayes Hendrix was born into the loving arms of his family on July 15, 2026, at Southeast Health Medical Center in Dothan, Alabama, and on that same day was welcomed into the loving arms of Jesus in Heaven.

Though his time on earth was brief, Liam’s life was deeply cherished and forever changed the hearts of those who loved him. He will always be remembered as a precious gift from God whose tiny footprints have left an everlasting mark on his family.

Liam was preceded in death by his maternal great-grandmother, Lowreane Sasnett, paternal grandfather, Randy Hendrix, and great-aunts, Ann Bruhn and Annette Sasnett.

Liam is survived by his parents, Kobe and Taylor Hendrix; maternal grandmother, Velma Sasnett; paternal grandmother, Tracey Grimes; maternal great-grandfather, Paul Sasnett; two uncles, Ryan White and Sophia and Eli Hendrix and Chloie; three aunts, Aizlee Sasnett, Rainna Sasnett, and Tegan Sasnett; cousins, Emmett and Ella; one great-aunt, Anniebell Davis and Terry; along with several extended family members.

A private family celebration of life service was held at 11:00 AM Saturday, July 25, 2026, in the Peel Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Al Ford officiating.

Mary Helen Cook, age 94 of Bonifay, Florida formerly of Apopka, Florida went to be with her Lord at her home on July 24, 2026. Mary is preceded in death by her precious husband, Homer Cook, her parents, and siblings.

Mary is survived by her sons Ed Cook, Craig Cook (Dee), and daughter Frances Reynolds (David), granddaughter-her pride and joy, Holli Reynolds (Chad), great-grandson Ean Reynolds (fiancé Mallory) and many loved nieces and nephews.

Mary – child of the king, precious wife, amazing mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, aunt, and friend to so many. She raised three children with love and dedication. She taught Sunday School, worked in VBS, lead cub scout and girl scout troops. She took care of her home and was always willing to help anyone that she could. To say that she will be missed is an understatement.

A celebration of Mary’s life will be held at Trinity Church in Geneva, Alabama on August 1, 2026, Saturday 12:00 PM, with Rev. Allen Marsh and Rev. Gene Hauser officiating. Visitation will be at Trinity Church for one hour prior to the service from 11 to 12. Flowers welcomed or donations to Trinity Church in Mary’s name, 2694 Highway 52, Geneva, AL 36340.

MICHELE GREENE VUOLO

Ms. Michele Greene Vuolo, age 57, of Panama City, Florida passed away July 20, 2026, at Ascension Sacred Heart Bay in Panama City. She was born on September 20, 1968, in Panama City, Florida. Michele was preceded in death by one uncle, Odell Parish.

Michele lived life with an infectious smile and a vivacious spirit that drew people to her wherever she went. Michele genuinely loved others, never met a stranger, and found joy in encouraging and caring for those around her.

From an early age, Michele excelled in gymnastics, dedicating countless hours to the sport throughout her childhood and teenage years. Her hard work, discipline, and talent earned her numerous competition awards and accolades, reflecting the determination that would define every stage of her life.

Michele pursued a career in nursing with unwavering dedication, ultimately achieving her lifelong goal of becoming an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN). She was not only a skilled healthcare professional but also a gifted teacher, taking the time to educate her patients and help them better understand their health and how to improve their well-being. Her kindness, patience, and genuine concern for others made a lasting impact on the many lives she touched.

Above all, Michele was a loving mother, a devoted caregiver, and a cherished daughter. Her family was the center of her world, and she gave of herself wholeheartedly to those she loved.

Outside of her profession, Michele’s creativity flourished in the kitchen and in her art. She loved cooking, developing original recipes, and entering culinary competitions, where her talents earned numerous awards. She also possessed an extraordinary gift for glass art, transforming ordinary glass bottles into breathtaking works of beauty through her vivid imagination, artistic vision, and meticulous attention to detail.

Michele will be remembered for her compassionate heart, vibrant personality, remarkable talents, and unwavering devotion to her family, friends, patients, and community. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Michele is survived by two sons, Andrew Vuolo and Rayne Huertas both of Panama City, FL; her mother and stepfather, Blondell and Phil Freeman of Caryville, FL; her father, Jim Greene of Panama City, FL; one brother, Terry Greene of Caryville, FL; one aunt, Glenda Parish of Bonifay, FL.

He was born on January 24, 1952, in Bonifay, Florida. Hershel was preceded in death by his father, Ira Gene Carnley, his mother, Syble Stafford Sellers, and one brother, Bobby Ray Carnley.

Mr. Carnley is survived by his wife of 51½ years, Lana Carnley; his special children, Devon Mercer and wife Jenny, Tasha McKay and husband Phillip, Clarissa Hall and husband Zach, Morgan Johnson and husband Jevin, Dyllan McKay Jake Lee, Huntleigh Hall, and Rowyn Hall; one sister, Geraldine Chambliss.

Jordan Dioniso Young, age 20, of DeFuniak Springs, Florida, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on July 11, 2026.

Jordan was born on August 1, 2005, the cherished son of Holly Harless and Joseph Young III, and the beloved stepson of Jerry Harless Jr. and Heather Gouge. Growing up with a deep and enduring love for God, Jordan lived his life with a kind heart, a vibrant spirit, and an infectious energy that lifted everyone around him.

Jordan was a determined and dedicated athlete, and his passion for sports was a massive part of his life. Throughout his high school years, he poured his heart into football and baseball, and he proudly continued his athletic journey playing soccer in college. More than the games themselves, Jordan loved the camaraderie of being a teammate.

His dedication extended deeply into his academics and career goals. Jordan recently graduated from the University of West Florida with his Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science and was already a published researcher. He completed his internship working with geriatric patients, a population he deeply loved and served with absolute joy and compassion.

Above all, Jordan treasured the people in his life. He was happiest when spending quality time with his family, laughing with his close friends, and cuddling with his dogs—especially his beloved companion, Sebastian. His loyalty, bright smile, and unconditional love will be forever missed by those who knew him.

He is survived by his loving parents, Holly Harless and Joseph Young III; his step-parents, Jerry Harless Jr. and Heather Gouge; his older brother, Joseph Young IV; his little brother, Liam Young; and his devoted grandparents, Robin and Oliver Reichert, Leslie Young Gooch, and Jerry Harless Sr. He is also survived by a wide circle of extended family, dear friends, and teammates.

A celebration of Jordan’s life will be held at 3 o’clock P.M. on Sunday July 26, 2026 at First Baptist Bonifay, located at 311 N Waukesha St, Bonifay, FL 32425.

Mrs. Ocie Dorch Howell, age 88, of Vernon, Florida passed away July 15, 2026, at her home. She was born on November 10, 1937, in Vernon, Florida to the late Johnny Dorch and Henry Mae Goodson Dorch. In addition to her parents, Ocie was preceded in death by three brothers, NJ Dorch, Don Dorch, and Jack Dorch, two sisters, Ollie Brock and Orie Simmons, one grandson, Jason Howell, and one great-grandson, Finn Dowell.

Ocie was a beloved wife, mother, and Granny who cherished every moment spent with those she loved. One of her greatest joys in life was caring for her children and grandchildren. They were the center of her world, and she poured her heart into making their lives special.

She was known for her delicious home-cooked meals, which brought family and friends together around the table. Her home was always filled with warmth and love. She also found great joy in tending to her flowers, taking pride in the beauty they brought to her home.

She touched the lives of many while working as cashier for years at the Dixie Dandy in Vernon. Ocie will be remembered for her spunky spirit, unwavering love, and the countless memories she created with those she held dear.

Mr. Ray William Medley, age 87, of Bonifay, Florida passed away July 10, 2026, at his home. He was born on February 15, 1939, in Fordyce, Arkansas to the late William Fletcher Medley and Esther Lee Parrish Medley. In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by two brothers, Guy Medley and Don Medley.

JOAN BROCK AUSLEY

Joan Brock Ausley, 83, of Panama City, FL, passed away on July 7, 2026. Joan was born to Leavy and Bernice Brock on September 27, 1942, in Lake Wales, FL. She attended Bay High School and later earned her bachelor’s degree from Troy University and her master’s degree from Florida State University.

She met the love of her life, Jerry Wayne Ausley, while in college, and they later married and spent more than 60 years together. Most of their time together was spent in Bonifay, FL, where Joan was an active member of the First United Methodist Church and the Bonifay Woman’s Club.

Joan loved a good project and was always undertaking new tasks. She loved scrapbooking, refinishing furniture, decorating, and planning fun events for her grandchildren. She also enjoyed playing golf with her husband after they both retired, and you could often find them on the course at Dogwood Lakes Country Club.

Her grandson, Riley Rowell, quoted Proverbs 21:21, “Whoever pursues righteousness and love finds life, prosperity, and honor.” Riley continued, “She pursued righteousness through the church and love through my grandfather,” he said, “She prospered and lived a happy life. She will now be honored by her family.”

Joan was an educator for 30 years. She taught business classes at Headland High School in Headland, AL, and Vernon High School in Vernon, FL, then became a media specialist at Vernon High School, and later at Holmes County High School in Bonifay, FL.

Throughout her life, Joan was known as a kind and generous person who always helped those in need. She worked through the church and other volunteer efforts to try and reach as many people as possible in her community.

The thing Joan loved the most was her family. She loved nothing more in the world than spending time with her two beautiful grandchildren, her daughters, and her husband. She loved hosting family gatherings and made every holiday magical.

Joan is survived by her two daughters, Amy Ausley and Paige Rowell; her two grandchildren, Caitlin McNeilage and Riley Rowell; her brothers, Pat Brock and his wife, Martha, and Greg Brock and his wife, Jan; her sister-in-law, Lorrie Brock; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Ausley; her parents, Leavy Brock and Bernice Brock Harless; and her brother, Jerry (Bob) Brock.

Visitation will take place at First United Methodist Church in Bonifay, FL, on July 13, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in the Bonifay Cemetery.
