Lauren is thrilled to announce that she is now licensed to provide services in the state of Georgia!

Having relocated so close to the Florida-Georgia border, she saw firsthand how many Georgia residents could benefit from greater access to care. Children don't misbehave. They communicate.

When your child melts down over the "wrong" cup, throws something across the room, or shuts completely down - they're not trying to make your life difficult.

They're telling you something in the only language they have access to right now.

Big feelings in children are always communication. Our job isn't to shut the communication down. It's to learn how to read it.

We're thrilled to announce that Lauren has been appointed to the Board of Directors for the Florida Association for Play Therapy (FAPT)!

This appointment reflects Lauren's ongoing dedication to advancing play therapy and ensuring children across Florida have access to compassionate, effective mental health care. Through this role, Lauren will continue advocating for the profession, supporting fellow play therapists, and helping shape the future of play therapy in our state.

Play therapy gives children a voice when words can't — and this new role is a powerful extension of the work we do every day at Oak Haven Therapy.

Grateful the research is lining up with what we know to be true about demand avoidance. Demand -> sensory overload -> anxiety -> avoidance. It’s a nervous system struggle not a behavioral choice. Support the nervous system first.
