Annual Free Sports Physicals 🏈🏐🏀⚾

Boundary Community Hospital is proud to partner with Boundary County School District to offer free sports physicals for local student athletes.

📅 Tuesday, July 21
⏰ 5:00–7:00 p.m.
📍 Boundary Community Hospital
6640 Kaniksu Street, Bonners Ferry, ID 83805

Sports physicals are required for all incoming freshmen and juniors, as well as any incoming sophomores and seniors who did not participate in sports the previous year.

ASB cards, yearbooks, and required online sports registration will also be available during the event.

This annual event helps students and families get ready for the upcoming school sports season in one convenient evening.

We look forward to seeing our local student athletes there!

As May comes to a close, we are reminded that health is never just one thing.

It is the nurse who listens when you are scared.
It is knowing the signs of a stroke and calling 911 right away.
It is checking in on a friend who seems quiet, tired, or overwhelmed.
It is having care close to home when your family needs it most.

At Boundary Community Hospital, caring for our community means showing up in all of those moments, big and small.

As we recognize Mental Health Awareness Month, Stroke Awareness Month, and Nurses Month, we encourage you to take one simple step today: check in on someone you love, learn the signs of stroke, or thank a nurse who made a difference.

Thank you to our staff, our patients, and our community for continuing to trust us with what matters most.

Care for Our Community Every Day.

This week is EMS Week, and we want to take a moment to recognize the incredible people who respond when our community needs them most.

In a rural community like ours, emergency care depends on strong partnerships, quick coordination, and people who are willing to step forward in critical moments. We are deeply grateful for our intra-agency partners at Boundary Ambulance and Life Flight Network. Their work is integral to emergency care in Boundary County, and we value their partnership immensely.

We also want to give a special shoutout to several members of our B*H team who also serve in EMS roles:

🚑 Tami Jeppesen, Advanced EMT / ED Tech II
🚑 Lieutenant Michaela Burt, Paramedic / BSN
🚑 Captain John Minden, Paramedic / ED Tech II
🚑 Rylee Cross, EMT / ED Tech I

This fun photo captures just a little bit of the personality, teamwork, and heart they bring to the job. Whether they are serving in the Emergency Department, responding in the field, or supporting patients during some of their most vulnerable moments, their dedication makes a real difference.

Thank you to all EMS professionals for your service, skill, compassion, and commitment to our community.

Happy EMS Week!

Congratulations to Hailey Dickson, recipient of the Fry Healthcare Foundation Children of Healthcare Heroes Scholarship!

The Fry Healthcare Foundation is proud to recognize Hailey Dickson as this year’s scholarship recipient. Hailey is the daughter of Jeanine Dickson, RN, who serves patients in the Med/Surg Department at Boundary Community Hospital and also works as a nurse at Boundary Community Clinics - Family Medicine & Behavioral Health.

Hailey plans to attend Lewis-Clark State College as she pursues her own path in healthcare. In her scholarship essay, Hailey shared how growing up with a healthcare hero in her family shaped her understanding of service, compassion, and commitment to others.

“Healthcare has always been more than just a job in my family; it is a commitment to caring for the people around us,” Hailey wrote. She went on to share her desire to use her education to support and strengthen rural communities, adding, “Rural communities depend on people who are willing to step up and care for their neighbors.”

Her words reflect the heart of this scholarship and the mission behind the Fry Healthcare Foundation: investing in the future of local healthcare by supporting students who understand the importance of caring for their community.

Please join us in congratulating Hailey as she takes this exciting next step toward a career in healthcare. We are proud to support her journey and look forward to seeing the difference she will make.

Join us tomorrow for the Boundary Community Hospital Health Fair & Fun Run!

The Fun Run starts at 9:00 a.m., and we hope you’ll stick around afterward to enjoy the Health Fair, visit local booths, and take advantage of free health screenings, including A1C checks.

We are also excited to welcome Life Flight, expected to land at 10:00 a.m., dependent on weather and emergent calls. Life Flight will be on site so families can check out the helicopter and talk with the pilots.

For everyone’s safety: if you see or hear Life Flight approaching, please stay back at a safe distance and do not approach the helicopter until the blades are no longer moving.

A huge THANK YOU to Life Flight Network for being part of this year’s Health Fair!

While you’re there, be sure to stop by the plant sale benefiting our Extended Care residents.

Visit all of the booths, and you can enter to win a one-year Life Flight membership for your household!

We would also like to give a special thank you to our generous sponsors for helping make this event possible: Auburn Crest Hospice North Idaho, Bonner General Health Hospice , HPM, Luther Park at Sandpoint and Fry Healthcare Foundation.

We hope to see you tomorrow for a morning of health, wellness, and community.
