Matthew Biosyan and Life Water Counseling are honored to partner with the Missouri State Emergency Management Agency and the Behavioral Health Strike Team in disaster preparedness efforts that strengthen coordinated response across our communities. Matthew serves in a dual capacity within this vital work—as a Crisis Counselor on the Behavioral Health Strike Team and as a SEMA Chaplain under the Missouri Department of Mental Health and the Office of Disaster Services. This partnership reflects a shared commitment to collaboration, readiness, and steadfast service, ensuring that compassionate behavioral health and spiritual support are available when Missourians need them most.

Life Water Counseling is returning to St. Louis to partner with the Missouri Department of Mental Health and Missouri Behavioral Health Council in support of the continuing recovery of survivors of the 2025 St. Louis Tornado. Matthew Biosyan will be out of the office through July 1st.

June is National PTSD Awareness Month. Approximately 5% of U.S. adults experience PTSD in any given year, totaling around 13 million Americans in 2020. Women are more likely to develop PTSD, with 8% of women and 4% of men experiencing it in their lifetime. Additionally, veterans have a higher rate of PTSD than civilians, particularly those who are deployed to war zones.

PTSD is a mental health condition that some people develop after experiencing or witnessing a life-threatening or traumatic event. If symptoms last more than a few months, it may indicate PTSD. The good news is that effective treatments exist, but stigma and limited awareness often hinder individuals from seeking help. This is why it is crucial to share the message that treatment can truly improve quality of life, particularly for our veterans and those who have experienced trauma. 💚
