Important Update from Our Family

With heavy hearts and deep gratitude for this community that has supported our family business for more than 80 years, we want to share an update.

Following the recent passing of my mother and a careful review of the business, we have made the difficult decision to temporarily close both the funeral home and flower shop. During this time, we will be completely updating and renovating the facilities inside and out, and assembling a staff that can better serve the families of our community with the care and excellence they deserve.

Because we currently do not have a licensed funeral director on staff, we are unable to provide funeral services at this time.

We know this may come as a surprise, and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience. Our commitment remains the same as it has been for generations: to honor families and people placed in our care with dignity, compassion, and professionalism.

We look forward to reopening, hopefully in time for "The 12 Days of Christmas Giveaway", and continuing to serve the families of the Texas Panhandle with renewed dedication. Thank you for your understanding, patience, and continued support during this transition.

We've taken time to reflect since the loss of Carolyn. Though we can never replace her, we are going to continue her legacy of service.

Brown Funeral Home and Brown's Flowers are open for your funeral and floral needs.

We'd like to thank everyone who has expressed their support and love during this difficult time, and want to thank some special people.

Lee Burgin, you helped our family navigate and take care of my mother and make her graveside exactly how she would have wanted. We will be forever grateful.

To all first responders, and especially the firefighters, you risked your lives to save not only my mother but also her home. Our prayers for a speedy recovery are with the injured firefighter.

Westlawn Cemetery, your team went above and beyond during my mother's graveside service. We are thankful to have such a wonderful place of rest for our loved ones.

Jessica Ozbun and the Borger News Herald, your special tribute to my mother last Thursday was a beautiful tribute to her life. Thank you.

Michelle and Anna at Borger Bank and Marissa and the other staff at Happy State Bank, your assistance perfectly met the needs of our business and employees.

Judge Leslie Ford, you answered all of our questions, took time to talk to us, and gave us guidance during this trying time. We are thankful for all you have done for our family.

And most importantly, thank you to Amanda, Sharon, and Tim, my mother's incredible employees and dear friends. You've helped us by going well beyond your duties these past two weeks. We could not have made it without you.

And finally to our customers, we look forward to continue serving you as Carolyn would have wanted. Our family is the only family owned funeral home in Borger, having served the Borger, Fritch, and Stinnett communities for over 80 years. We appreciate your support and your continued trust in our business.

Our family would like to express our heartfelt gratitude for all the beautiful messages and prayers of support. As you know, this has been a very difficult event for us and we have made the decision to have a private burial for my mother, Carolyn.

As we celebrate her life and recognize her contributions in so many of your lives, quiet reflection is needed for our family at this time. We appreciate your understanding and would greatly appreciate your continued prayers. God bless.

We regret to inform you that last night my mother Carolyn Brown passed away at the age of 80. In memory of her we will be closing temporarily, and will let you know when we reopen. We know that Carolyn was well loved, and she dearly loved the city of Borger and everyone else in turn. If you have any questions feel free to leave them here and we will try to answer if we can. We want to thank all of you for your past and continued support of her legacy.
