The Columns of Bossier City currently has 10 assisted living apartments and seven memory care apartments available!

Assisted living is designed for older adults who want to maintain their independence while enjoying companionship, fewer household responsibilities and the peace of mind that comes with having support nearby.

Memory care offers a more structured setting for individuals living with Alzheimer’s disease or another form of dementia. It focuses on familiar routines, meaningful engagement, safety and support tailored to each resident’s individual needs.

Every family’s situation is different, and choosing the right level of care can feel overwhelming. Touring early gives you time to ask questions, explore both options and make a thoughtful decision before an urgent need arises.

Will my loved one lose their independence in assisted living?

Not at all! Assisted living is designed to help residents maintain as much independence as possible while providing personalized support when they need it.

Residents can continue making choices about how they spend their days, participating in favorite hobbies, socializing with friends and enjoying time with family. They have the freedom to follow their own routines without the burden of household maintenance, meal preparation and other daily responsibilities.

When assistance is needed, caring team members and trusted third-party providers are nearby to help with tasks such as medication management, bathing, dressing or mobility. The level of support is based on each resident’s individual needs, allowing them to continue doing the things they can safely manage on their own.

At The Columns, receiving support does not mean giving up independence. It means having greater confidence, fewer daily worries and more opportunities to enjoy life in a safe, welcoming community.

Employee Spotlight: Shyrone Webb 🌟

This week, we’re proud to spotlight Shyrone Webb, Administrative Assistant at The Columns of Bossier City!

With more than 20 years of experience, including the last 12 years right here at The Columns, Shyrone has become an invaluable part of our community. Her heart for caring for others is evident in everything she does. She is compassionate, dependable and always willing to step in wherever she is needed.

Shyrone somehow manages to keep up with the ever-changing staff schedule while also providing wonderful leadership and support to our RLA team. Her experience, dedication, and calm presence make a difference not only for our staff, but for the residents and families we serve each day.

Outside of work, Shyrone enjoys spending time with her daughter, who is currently in nursing school. She also loves reading, listening to music, traveling, and (perhaps most importantly) a good iced coffee! ☕

We are so thankful for Shyrone and the 12 years she has dedicated to The Columns of Bossier City. Please help us show her some love in the comments!

🌷 Resident Spotlight: Meet Mrs. Marylin Lyles! 🌷

This week, we’re excited to shine the spotlight on one of our wonderful residents, Mrs. Marylin Lyles, who has called our community home since July 2024.

After spending 26 years as a schoolteacher, Mrs. Marylin certainly knows a thing or two about staying busy... and she hasn’t slowed down! She enjoys playing games and doing crafts with her fellow residents and can often be found leading a craft project herself. She also loves spending time outdoors working in the flower beds and feeding the wild birds.

When asked what she enjoys most about living here, Mrs. Marylin said she appreciates the convenience of having things taken care of and, most importantly, the balance of independence and support. She can do for herself when she’s able and knows help is there whenever she needs it.

In her words, “It feels like home!” ❤️

And if there’s one thing you should know about Mrs. Marylin, it’s that she has no problem speaking up when necessary, but as she’ll tell you, she also knows when to keep her mouth shut.

We think that little bit of wisdom might come from 26 years in a classroom!

We’re so glad to have Mrs. Marylin as part of our community and love getting to share a little bit of what makes the people who live here so special. 💙

A little BINGO, a lot of laughs and some pretty special family time ❤️

We recently invited the families of our Memory Care residents to join us for a Family Bingo Bash, and we loved getting to see everyone gathered around the tables together. A few of our staff even jumped in to play!

These are the afternoons we love most... simple moments filled with smiles, laughter, connection and the people who matter most.

A big thank you to Passages Hospice of Northwest La, Compassus, and Bristol Hospice - NW Louisiana Minden for providing the snacks and helping us make the afternoon even more special!
