There’s this really popular toy at our house and clinic because it’s super interactive.

You slide a little zinger to pop out chips, then match the chips to cards. It comes in many versions, so even toddlers around two or three can use it by matching animal pictures, and older kids up to elementary school can use it too.

I like to sit my two-year-old on my lap and help her practice matching skills. It’s also great for social-emotional learning, like teaching kids how to win and lose gracefully at an early age. This toy covers a lot of important skills and has been a lot of fun for our family and clients. People also love giving it as a birthday gift.

Many people worry about how women working affects kids, but from my experience, it can actually be positive.

When I work late, I’m honest with my kids about what I’m doing.

They ask if I’m finishing my work, and when I do, they cheer and celebrate with me. They see me being accountable and working hard, which shows them a great example.

Even if you worry about working too much, remember your kids are watching you achieve your goals and build a life for them. That’s a really cool perspective on working moms.

Some days look like confetti on the floor, endless games, and lots of laughter.

What many people don’t see is that behind every activity is a purpose.

Every turn taken, sound practiced, direction followed, and word spoken is a step toward greater confidence, communication, and independence.

As our team continues to grow, we’re excited to help even more children and families across our community find their voice and reach their full potential. 🫶✨

Because changing lives doesn’t always happen in big moments. Sometimes it starts with a single sound, a first word, or a child finally being understood. 🤩

Parenting really is weird sometimes.

You spend three days with your kids, then drop them off because you need a break, but within 15 minutes, you’re already wondering if you should call just to check in and make sure their day’s going okay. And before you know it, you’re itching to go pick them up again.

It’s this constant mix of needing space and missing them all at once.

If your little one struggles to understand language, small changes in how you speak can make a big difference. Try these five tips at home:

1️⃣ say less. Use single words or short phrases with just two or three words.
2️⃣ emphasize important words by saying them slowly and loudly.
3️⃣ use gestures to add meaning since movement helps learning.
4️⃣ repeat new words and ideas often.
5️⃣ use choices instead of yes/no questions; for example, ask “Do you want banana or apple?” This encourages your child to engage more.

Make it a team effort by involving family members to support your child together.

If a child isn’t walking or moving around their environment by about 12 to 14 months, they might miss out on playing with age-appropriate toys and becoming more independent, which is important at that stage.

If your child isn’t showing steps by then, it’s a good idea to get an evaluation from a professional. They can check if it’s just a normal developmental delay or if there’s something like muscle weakness or a gait problem. If there’s an issue, professionals can provide tools and tips to help your child walk and gain independence.

It’s always best to reach out early to see how support can help.
