"A little over five months ago, I was lying in a hospital bed for the second time in as many months. I didn't know what my next move was, but I knew I needed to do something. My family got me in contact with Joe Simonelli and I was introduced to Woburn wellness and then Eddie's house. I was fearful at first, but was welcomed with open arms by the house manager Rob and the rest of the guys. I was introduced to the step work and hit the ground running. My life has become immesurably better each day and the comradrie I have built with the people that have come and gone is something I hold dear. I continue working on myself and helping others and I am forever grateful for this program and the people involved.

"6 months ago today I checked into detox completely lost and hopeless. There was no more I could lose. From material things to all of my optimism. I had no clue what I was going to do but I did know this has to change. Fast forward to arriving at Eddie's house. I've never felt more welcomed. Such a genuine group of people. One of the first things Rob (house manager) told me is it isn't just about being in a sober house, there's work that needs to go into it. That's when I was introduced to the steps. Between putting in the work and being surrounded by amazing people words cant describe how grateful I am to be in the position I'm in. Wouldn't be where I am without the help of Eddie's house, Joe S, Rob B, and everyone I've met along the way. Eternally grateful. Let's goooooo. -S.M ( Eddie’s house )

For a long time in my life I was full of fear and resentment. I was anxious depressed and felt like the world and others owed me something. I used alcohol to suppress all of those emotions and quickly the progression of the disease began to take over my life. I was obsessed with quieting those feelings and the only way I knew how was with alcohol. My problems in my life began to pile up which only drove me to drink more. My life became completely dependent on alcohol and not the things that were most important to me. I lost myself and my life was unmanageable. I finally had enough of that and knew I needed help. I thank god everyday that I was introduced to Eddie’s house in Stoneham through Joe S. When I arrived there I was a broken man but Joe and Rob reassured me that I was making the right decision and my life would get better. I began to go through the Big Book with my sponsor and the house manager Rob B and I related to everything that I was hearing. I finally didn’t feel alone and the relief began to enter me. I wrote a 4th step and let go of those resentments and fears that ran my life. I accepted that I didn’t need to be in control of everything and that my Higher Power would lead me if I sought him. I began to pray everyday and found faith that my life would begin to have a purpose again. I started living more spiritually and not so selfishly. Now I am lucky enough to be in the position to give back the gift that was so freely given to me and I’m able to help guys through the book and the 12 steps. I’m so grateful for this program and the brothers I’ve gained in this house. I encourage anyone that is struggling with drug or alcohol addiction to ask for help and to gain their life back because this disease never gets better it only gets worse and everyone deserves a purposeful and fulfilling life. - Joe L (Eddie’s house resident)

Hi my name is Joseph f I’m currently a resident at the Edward Wilcox house my intake. Started around the Thanksgiving holidays when I first came into this home I was offered everything I needed including toiletries bedding and anything else to make me feel comfortable I was provided with a comfortable intake process with kind gentlemen that explained everything step by step then shown around the house and was introduced to the residents the first few days of transition were evenly paced so I can get acclimated to the standards of the house short while after I was introduced to the big book of alcoholics anonymous and carefully taken through the first few chapters of the book everything was broken down to me carefully until I understood then I was brought along to my writing process after the first three steps every time I need to help with something I was kindly attended to especially during my writing process when I didn't know what I was doing slowly things began to change how I acted how I went about my daily living routine and then came the time where I had to acclimate myself out in real world I was given sufficient time to find a job. After a short period of time I developed a routine and I’m working on helping others.
