Things you will NEVER hear in my office 👇
1️⃣ “Have you tried just eating less?” 🍽️ You’ve tried eating less since you were 19. You could teach a masterclass on eating less. If eating less worked the way they promised, you wouldn’t be reading this. What you’ll hear instead: let’s find out why your body is holding on, because it’s doing it for a reason.
2️⃣ “Your labs are normal” 🩸 Normal ranges were built on averages, not on you. You can sit inside every range and still be exhausted, foggy, and gaining. What you’ll hear instead: your labs are one data point. How you feel at 7am is another. We’re using both.
3️⃣ “That’s just part of getting older” 🗓️ Aging is real. Suffering through it untreated is optional. Hormones shift, metabolism changes, and every one of those changes has a response. What you’ll hear instead: this is common. It is not something you’re required to accept.
4️⃣ “Come back when you’ve lost some weight” ⚖️ Being told to fix the problem alone before you’re allowed help with the problem. Some of you were denied care until a number changed. What you’ll hear instead: you’re in the right place at the weight you’re at today.
5️⃣ “It’s probably stress” 🤷 The medical shrug. The sentence that ends the appointment instead of starting the investigation. What you’ll hear instead: stress is a real physiological driver, so let’s actually look at it instead of hiding behind it.
6️⃣ “We only have 10 minutes” ⏱️ Twenty years of symptoms don’t fit in 10 minutes. You’ve been rushed out of rooms your whole adult life. What you’ll hear instead: start from the beginning. I’m listening.
You were never a difficult patient. You were a patient nobody made time for.
