the milk stains on my sweatshirt say it all 🍼🐮 I was overwhelmed by the thought of pumping AND learning to breastfeed my daughter all at the same time. I waited 6 weeks to introduce any real pumping methods. At 6 weeks, milk supply has regulated so there’s less potential for creating oversupply.

I was still intimidated by my spectra electric pump when I decided to start a little freezer stash so I used my milk collectors and manual pumps instead for a few weeks.

What I used:
Boon trove milk collector
Haakaa USA ladybug & pump
Medela USA manual pump

All recipes are in my Postpartum Meal Prep ebook! Comment Postpartum and I’ll send you the link 🤍

I prepped and froze all these recipes in my third trimester so we had nutrient dense, healing foods on hands in those early newborn weeks and I’m soooo glad I did. If you don’t feel like cooking, have a family member or friend make you these recipes! You deserve it!

pumpkin overnight oats 🍂
I’ve been making a variation of these each week and they are SUCH a life saver! These days, Breakfast needs to be quick and pack a punch nutritionally! And this is it. Protein, healthy fats, slow digesting carbs, milk supply boosts. It’s all there in the fridge ready to go.

🎃 Pumpkin Lactation Overnight Oats

Makes 4 servings

* 2 cups rolled oats
* 4 Tbsp chia seeds
* 4 Tbsp ground flaxseed
* ½ cup pumpkin purée
* 3¼ cups milk of choice (I do 1/2 milk, 1/2 water so I don’t use up alllll my milk. Nut milk is expensive these days)
* 2 Tbsp brewer’s yeast
* 2–3 Tbsp maple syrup
* 2 tsp vanilla extract
* 2 tsp pumpkin pie spice
* ½ tsp cinnamon
* Pinch of sea salt

Mix everything really well and refrigerate overnight. In the morning, stir and add another splash of milk if they’ve thickened more than you like.

Add a couple scoops to a bowl with a scoop of protein. Stir in well and add your toppings. I like to heat mine up if I have the time!

8 weeks postpartum eats 🍳
It’s not easy getting 3 nourishing meals a day , hydrating and getting all my supplements in while also exclusively breastfeeding and being home on my own during the week. This was a great day filled with nourishing food for me and many. Other days look like shoving a PB&J down before the next feed and only filling my water bottle up once until gareth gets home from work. Each week gets easier 🤍

for when mama needs a mood boost 🫶🏻

I’m only 7 weeks into motherhood, but I can tell you some days, nights, weeks are harder than others even though I love it so so much. Here’s what I do when I need a little boost:,

1. Getting out of my PJs and ready for the day even if it’s just washing my face and putting on a fresh set of pajamas
2. Having one activity planned for the day (a walk somewhere new, an outing, shopping trip, a visitor)
3. Fresh air and getting out in nature works so so well! Especially if it’s by the ocean
4. Coffee and a treat from my favorite bakery (I have paid $18 to get it delivered when I was desperate)
5. A little online shopping for some new postpartum clothes that make me feel really good
6. FaceTiming during a feeding with my mom, sister or a friend
7. Having a family member come over and watch the baby so I can take a nap uninterrupted for a couple hours
8. Visiting the grandparents
9. Chatting with other newborn moms (I’m lucky to have two friends who also had babies this summer)
10. Prioritize your own mealtimes and nutrition not just baby’s
