For the third consecutive year, members of our MGB Neurosurgery Global Health Program traveled to West Africa to collaborate with local teams in expanding access to neurosurgical care.

This year marked the team’s first visit to Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra, Ghana, with a focus on endoscopic endonasal pituitary surgery and epilepsy surgery.

Congratulations to Dr. Mohsen Jamali on receiving funding for his research in Cellular and Circuit-Level Signatures of Executive Dysfunction in Parkinson’s Disease!
 
This research aims to pinpoint cellular‑level markers of executive dysfunction and determine how these neural signatures relate to clinical severity. Ultimately, this work may help guide earlier detection and new treatments to slow or prevent Parkinson’s disease dementia.

Last night, we gathered at the Paul S. Russell, MD Museum of Medical History and Innovation to celebrate a giant in our field. Dr. Bob Carter’s portrait was officially unveiled at Massachusetts General Hospital as a tribute to his extraordinary contributions to neurosurgery and the MGH community.
 
Hosted by Dr. Nino Chiocca and Mass General Brigham Neurosurgery, the evening was filled with gratitude, reflection, and celebration of a legacy that continues to inspire us all. Thank you to everyone who joined us for this meaningful occasion.
