Childhood Cancer Doesn't End When Treatment Ends. 💛

For many children, ringing the end-of-treatment bell is just the beginning of a lifelong journey.

Long term effects (Late Effects) are health problems that can appear months or even years after cancer treatment. They can impact survivors physically, emotionally, and cognitively.

💛 Childhood cancer survivors may face:

❤️ Heart and lung damage
🧠 Learning, memory, and attention challenges
📏 Growth and hormone disorders
🦴 Bone and muscle problems
👂 Hearing or vision loss
❤️‍🩹 Fertility concerns
😔 Anxiety, depression, PTSD, and emotional trauma
🎗️ An increased risk of developing a second cancer later in life

Did you know?
📊 Studies show that 60–90% of childhood cancer survivors develop at least one chronic health condition related to their cancer treatment, and many require lifelong follow-up care.

Survival is only the first step. Every child deserves not only to survive—but to thrive.

That's why continued research, survivorship care, and family support matter.

After 5 hours of what I would describe as torture for any parent, we finally got the x-ray results (mind you the results are usually available in 20 minutes 🫠)

What they saw in the last x-ray is still there, however, what I learned today was they were not exactly expecting it to disappear (something I should have asked prior to the repeat x-ray.).

The results state it’s consistent with what they felt before, that it’s most likely a vascular or airway structure. This time the image was able to show it is tubular, which is a good sign.

There are no immediate next steps. They will be adding an x-ray to his MRI in October.

This is good news, despite it still being there. It will take me a bit to accept this is good news. Would have loved for them to have never seen anything.

Thank you for continued love, support and prayers 🎗️

Tomorrow morning we head back to Boston Children’s. Henry’s team did make a change on what he will be getting done.

After bringing his X-ray to a committee consisting of oncologists and radiologist, it was determined to cancel the CT Scan planned for tomorrow and just do another X-ray.

The hope is that we get a clear X-ray and move on. If they do spot anything in the repeat X-ray he will need a sedated CT scan at a later date.

Let’s hope, wish and pray it’s a clear X-ray tomorrow! 🎗️

It was a long day at Boston Children’s & the Jimmy Fund clinic. We were happy to see Henry’s ultrasound results clear but unfortunately they did spot something on his X-ray.

They saw an 8mm density in one of his lungs. The radiologist did state that it most likely represents vascular or airway structure, but it is new (compared to previous X-rays) so they need to do a CT scan to exclude a true lesion, especially with his history.

Henry’s CT scan is scheduled next Wednesday. Please continue to pray and send positive thoughts his way.
