October is National Down Syndrome Awareness Month! In honor of the observance, we're revisiting the remarkable story of Charlie and Kristy. 💜

At seven years old, Charlie brings people together with his infectious laugh and social personality. His mom and primary caregiver, Kristy, sees those daily interactions as an opportunity to educate others about Down Syndrome.

That spirit is at the heart of the website Kristy created for Charlie. She hopes others can learn about Charlie's differences, but also what makes him the same as everyone else.

"Charlie has his own unique personality, talents, interests, and dreams," Kristy said. "Down Syndrome is simply one part of his story; it does not define who he is. Like Charlie, people with Down Syndrome are so much more than a diagnosis or a label."

That’s a wrap on o4a 2026!

The o4a Conference is the biggest event of the year in Ohio. It's also a great opportunity to gather some of the Careforth Ohio team together in person. And we made the most of it!

It was wonderful to connect with Area Agency on Aging leaders and case managers from across Ohio and hearing how much they value working with Careforth meant the world to our team. We’re proud of the role Careforth’s Structured Family Caregiving program plays in making Ohio a great state to age.💙
