Healthy fats are doing more than you think đŸ„‘

Did you know that vitamins A, D, E, and K are fat-soluble? This means your body relies on dietary fat to help absorb these essential nutrients. Adding healthy fats like avocado, olive oil, nuts, and seeds to meals with vegetables can help your body make the most of the nutrients you eat.

Nutrition is about understanding how to nourish your body, not restricting the foods you love. Small, intentional additions to your meals can make a meaningful difference in supporting your overall health and well-being. Empowering women through evidence-based nutrition education starts with knowing how your body works.

Take care of the body that takes care of you ♄

Your body works hard for you every single day, and it deserves the nourishment, movement, rest, and care it needs to thrive. Prioritizing your health isn’t about achieving perfection or following every wellness trend. It’s about building sustainable habits that help you feel your best, both physically and mentally.

At Coord Health, our mission is to empower women with evidence-based nutrition education so they can feel confident in their choices, advocate for their health, and nourish themselves from the inside out. Remember, taking care of yourself is never selfish. It’s essential.

A simple snack that brings fresh flavor and nourishment to the table 🍅

Ricotta toast with tomatoes and fresh basil is an easy way to combine satisfying flavors with nutritional benefits. Ricotta provides protein and calcium to support muscle function and bone health, while tomatoes offer vitamin C and lycopene, an antioxidant that helps protect cells from oxidative damage. Add whole-grain bread for extra fiber to help support digestion and keep you feeling satisfied.

Healthy eating doesn’t have to be complicated or restrictive. Simple ingredients can come together to create something delicious, nourishing, and easy to enjoy any time of day.

YOU HAVE THE POWER TO MAKE AN IMPACT!

Never underestimate how much your actions, words, and choices matter. Whether you are supporting someone, sharing knowledge, or showing up for yourself, even the smallest steps can create meaningful change. In women’s health, education and advocacy are especially important, helping women feel informed, heard, and empowered to make decisions about their health.

You do not have to change the entire world to make a difference. Start where you are, use what you know, and remember that the impact you make today may inspire someone else tomorrow.

Tiny seeds, big nutritional benefits. đŸŒ±

Did you know that just 2 tablespoons of chia seeds provide approximately 10 grams of fiber? Chia seeds are also a source of plant-based omega-3 fatty acids called alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), along with magnesium, calcium, and protein. Their soluble fiber absorbs liquid and forms a gel, which can support digestive health and help promote feelings of fullness.

For women, fiber is especially important for digestive health, while calcium and magnesium support bone health and normal muscle function. Try adding chia seeds to overnight oats, smoothies, yogurt, or homemade chia pudding. Small additions like these can help you build a more nutrient-dense eating pattern without making meals complicated.

Your workouts are only part of the equation. Are you fueling enough to support them?

You can exercise consistently, prioritize protein, and still not eat enough to meet your body’s energy needs. This is known as low energy availability, which occurs when your body doesn’t have enough energy left to support its essential functions after accounting for physical activity.

Research shows that prolonged low energy availability can affect menstrual function, bone health, immune function, recovery, and athletic performance. In active women, inadequate fueling can contribute to Relative Energy Deficiency in Sport (REDs), a condition that can affect both physical and psychological well-being. You don’t have to be an elite athlete to be at risk.

So, what does adequate fueling look like? Eating regular meals and snacks, including carbohydrates to replenish energy, protein to support muscle repair, and fats to support hormone production and nutrient absorption. Your needs will vary depending on your activity level, life stage, and overall health.

Remember, food is not something you have to earn through exercise. Rest days still require nourishment, and eating enough is an essential part of getting stronger, recovering well, and supporting your long-term health đŸƒđŸ»â€â™€ïžđŸ„—

DON’T let your fear decide your future đŸ’Ș

Growth often begins right outside your comfort zone. Whether you’re starting something new, working toward a goal, or making a change that feels overwhelming, it’s natural to feel uncertain. But fear doesn’t always mean you’re on the wrong path. Sometimes, it means you’re stepping into something unfamiliar that has the potential to change your life.

Don’t let the possibility of failure keep you from the possibility of growth. Your future is worth taking a chance on, and you deserve to pursue the life you’ve been working toward. Start before you’re ready, believe in yourself along the way, and keep moving forward.

Your nutrients work better together ✹

Did you know that what you eat together can influence how well your body absorbs certain nutrients? Nutrition isn’t just about what you consume, but also how your body uses it.

For example, vitamin C can significantly improve the absorption of nonheme iron, the type found in plant foods like lentils, chickpeas, spinach, and tofu. Try pairing these foods with strawberries, citrus fruits, bell peppers, or broccoli to help your body absorb more iron. Another example is fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E, and K, which require dietary fat for optimal absorption. Adding avocado, olive oil, nuts, or seeds to your meals can help your body absorb these important nutrients.

These small combinations can be especially helpful for women, whose iron needs are higher during many reproductive years. Instead of focusing only on individual nutrients, think about how different foods can complement one another.

Healthy eating isn’t about making every meal perfect. It’s about building variety, balance, and combinations that help nourish your body over time.
