PERSIAN VERSION ✨ENSO DOOGH
The Probiotic Persian Alternative to Soda

I grew up drinking doogh. It’s a staple in Persian homes, a savory, tangy yogurt drink that was part of the table and part of home.

This is my own version: Enso Doogh.

I blend plain Greek yogurt with salt, freshly ground black pepper, dried mint, oregano, and turmeric, then add sparkling water for that delicious fizz. I finish it with fresh mint and crushed rose petals.

The result is creamy, tangy, herby, refreshing, and SO satisfying, without the added sugar you typically find in soda and other sweet drinks.

Wellness is about balance, not deprivation. I love finding ways to make nourishing choices that are also incredibly delicious.

The Greek yogurt I use contains live active cultures, making this a source of probiotics, along with protein and calcium. Turmeric brings curcumin and its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, while black pepper contains piperine, which can help with curcumin absorption. The herbs add flavor and beneficial plant compounds, too.

I love this drink because it takes me back to the traditions I grew up with, back to simple ingredients and back to food that nourishes and makes me feel good.

My Enso philosophy is rooted in wellness, balance and happiness.
And this is a little taste of all three đź’«

ENSO DOOGH
1 cup Greek yogurt
Salt, to taste
Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
1 tsp dried mint or handful fresh mint (I used both)
1 tsp dried oregano
ÂĽ tsp ground turmeric
Sparkling water (I used about a cup)
Fresh mint, for finishing
Crushed rose petals, for finishing
Ice

Blend the Greek yogurt, salt, black pepper, mint, oregano, and turmeric (I used an immersion blender until smooth or you can just mix with a fork or whisk)

Pour into a glass over ice, add sparkling water, mix and finish with fresh mint and crushed rose petals.

This is a Persian staple from my childhood, with my own Enso twist and I hope you love it.

Save this for the next time you want something cold, fizzy, savory, and refreshing with a calcium, protein and probiotic boost🙌

Crazy how the things we take for granted as kids often become the things we value most as adults.

Making this breakfast reminded me how grateful I am for the way my parents raised me to view and appreciate real food…not just for the recipes, but for the habits, the intention, and the time we spent together in the kitchen.

So much of what shapes our health isn’t found in a headline or a new trend. It’s in the everyday routines we rarely think twice about…the ones that are on autopilot. Cooking at home, eating together, choosing simple, whole foods, and passing those traditions from one generation to the next.

I’m grateful that I get to share these lessons with my own family now, and through my work with all of you❤️

I’d love to know: what’s a food or tradition from your childhood that means more to you now than it did back then?
