Last week I spent the day at Rooted Together: For the Love of the Community, a summit hosted by the massdphgov and organized by Kurt Faustin and Tony Galvão.
It was a space for people who care for community to pause, reset, and remember we are not meant to do this work alone.
As a therapist in private practice, it mattered to sit with community based organizations across Massachusetts and learn about resources I can weave into the support I offer clients.
Dr. Raquel Martin-Psychologist spoke on “The Cost of Caring,” naming care as both community based and deeply human. Her words, and our brief one to one conversation, gave me a lot to sit with about how we tend to ourselves while we tend to others.
I left reminded that my work at EmbraceWell is to be a scaffold for the people who are usually the scaffold for everyone else and to help you find support that is bigger than one therapy room.
If you are the one folks turn to, I hope you are finding spaces that hold you too.
