Nearly 150 primary care leaders gathered on May 1 for the inaugural Linde Innovation Conference, held in partnership with the BILH Primary Care Leadership Academy. Centered on the theme “Leading Everyday Innovation — Bringing Ideas to Life in Primary Care,” the event focused on building the leadership habits, collaboration, and creativity needed to drive innovation in everyday practice.

The conference featured keynote speaker Rushika Fernandopulle, MD, MPP, CEO of Liza Health and co-founder of Iora Health, along with interactive design-thinking workshops facilitated by ExperiencePoint, where participants explored creative problem-solving approaches to primary care challenges. The event also showcased innovative projects supported through the Linde Innovation Grants Program.

Thank you to all who attended, presented, and helped make this inaugural event such a success. We look forward to continuing to advance innovation in primary care together!

🌡️ As temperatures rise around the world, so do concerns about the impact of extreme heat on pregnancy.

New research led by Blair Wylie, MD, MPH, Chair of the BIDMC Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, found that humid heat exposure during pregnancy was associated with increased odds of preterm birth—but this elevated risk was not observed among participants who took low-dose aspirin early in pregnancy.

The study adds to a growing body of research exploring how climate-related health risks affect pregnant people and their babies, while identifying potential strategies that may help reduce those risks.

Learn more about the findings and what they could mean for maternal and newborn health:

BIDMC-led study finds low-dose aspirin may reduce risk of preterm birth in extreme heat, offering a low-cost way to help protect mothers and babies.

Can artificial intelligence help detect breast cancer risk before cancer develops?

A new WBUR article explores how AI-powered tools are helping identify patients at elevated risk for breast cancer—sometimes years before traditional methods would. As these technologies continue to evolve, leaders like Elizabeth Mittendorf, MD, PhD, MHCM, the Chief of Multidisciplinary Oncology at BIDMC, are helping advance research focused on earlier detection, personalized risk assessment, and more proactive approaches to care.

Read the story below to learn how AI is reshaping the future of breast cancer prevention and early detection. 💗

Researchers are studying a machine learning-powered warning system for breast cancer. It works by detecting subtle changes in a mammogram that humans can't spot, but could soon become cancer.

A new nationwide study led by researchers at found that people with type 2 diabetes taking GLP1 receptor agonists were significantly less likely to develop peptic ulcer disease compared to those not using these medications.

“Although these medications are not prescribed with ulcer prevention in mind, there is growing evidence that GLP1 receptor agonists may have broader biological effects,” said, Trisha Pasricha, MD, MPH, a gastroenterologist at BIDMC and senior author of the study.
