🌈 Happy Pride Month from The Love, S*x & Gender Center 🌈

Pride is more than a celebration.

It’s a reminder that every person deserves spaces where they can be fully seen, deeply respected, and wholeheartedly welcomed.

We honor the courage it takes to live authentically in a world that has not always made room for the beautiful diversity of human experience. We celebrate LGBTQIA+ individuals, couples, families, and communities whose resilience, creativity, and love continue to shape a more compassionate world.

As therapists, we believe healing happens when we no longer have to hide. When our identities are met with curiosity instead of judgment. When our relationships are supported rather than questioned. When we can bring our whole selves into connection.

This month, and every month, we remain committed to providing affirming care for LGBTQIA+ individuals, couples, and relationships of all kinds.

You belong here.

With love,

The Love, S*x & Gender Center ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜

✨Because dishonesty can become embodied. ✨

Many people are not chasing love.
They are chasing escape.
They are chasing dopamine.
They are chasing relief from the parts of themselves they have not yet learned to face.

Somatically, deception is a rhythm learned in the body.

When someone has spent years trying to control how they are perceived, avoid consequences, manage emotional danger, or survive instability, deception can stop feeling like a choice and start feeling like a pattern.

For many, this begins long before adulthood.
Childhood environments shaped by infidelity, secrecy, inconsistency, emotional unpredictability, or image management teaches the body and the nervous system that safety lives in performance, concealment, or distortion.

And when a pattern is practiced long enough, it can feel real.
It can feel natural.
It can feel believable to everybody around them.

✨Because dishonesty can become embodied. ✨

It can live in clear vocal tone, timing, regulated nervous system responses, impulse patterns, relational habits, and survival strategies that operate beneath conscious awareness.

So learning to move in a more honest rhythm is often not just (cognitive work.)

It is deep somatic work.
Often preverbal.

It requires rewiring patterns that may have once protected someone, while recognizing those same patterns may now create harm.

Moving from deception toward integrity often means learning how to tolerate being seen without controlling perception.
Learning how to tell the truth without escaping discomfort.
Learning how to stay present when vulnerability feels threatening.

This work requires deep self-awareness.
Deep self-accountability.
And a willingness to feel profoundly uncomfortable while practicing something new.

Honesty is not always just a moral decision.
For many, it is a nervous system re-patterning.

A little more truth.
A little less performance.
A little less protection through distortion.

Until integrity becomes embodied too.

For those who don’t know, Erotic Blueprints are a popular framework in s/xuality education describing arousal “types” (Sensual, S*xual, Energetic, Kinky, Shapeshifter).

So much of what is casually taught in s/xuality coaching is missing the depth of nervous system science and hormonal literacy.

For example:

“Energetic” arousal is often a high sympathetic state organized through distance, anticipation, or imagination rather than touch.

“Sensual” often reflects ventral vagal access and interoceptive embodiment; the capacity to feel safely in the body.

“S/xual” often reflects direct arousal pathways shaped by physiology, relational context, and cultural conditioning.

“Kinky” often reflects structured regulation of high arousal states through containment, negotiation, and intensity.

None of these are fixed traits.

They are adaptive nervous system strategies expressed erotically.

Without somatic literacy, we misinterpret these blueprints as our arousal identities.

When in actuality, these are actually state-dependent nervous system responses, not stable identity.

Erotic capacity is also hormonally influenced.

Across menstrual cycles, shifts in estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone can impact libido, sensitivity, emotional openness, and erotic accessibility.

S/xuality is not static; it is rhythmic, neuroendocrine, trauma-influenced and responsive.

So the shift is this:

Instead of asking
“What is my Erotic Blueprint?”

We ask
“What state is my nervous system in right now?”
“Recently?”
“How has culture influenced my arousal anatomy?”
“Where am I at hormonally?”

This reframing brings s/xuality back to what it actually is:

not a category to belong to…

but a dynamic, embodied, relational process that changes with safety, context, and capacity.

I may be opening this workshop to the broader community at some point, but for now it is a workshop offered exclusively to therapists and clients at The Love, S*x and Gender Center.

"So many of us find ourselves saying, “I’ve lost my desire.”
After years of marriage; after trauma; after chronic illness; after hormonal changes; after too much relational conflict; after weight gain; after cultural or financial stress; after years of feeling burnt out by life."

When someone says this, or if you personally are saying this, a more helpful reframe is: “I’m no longer living within or creating the conditions that allow my desire to emerge.”

✨Love is evolving — and so is the way we care for it. 💞
In this new piece, I explore why couples therapy is becoming more essential than ever, and what that says about how we’re learning to love in 2026.

Somatic therapy, at its core, is a form of body-centered therapy that taps into the deeply rooted connection between the mind and the body.
