Precision matters, in baseball and for your eyes.

When the front surface of your eye, called the cornea, is evenly round like a baseball, light focuses at the same point in your eye, causing clear vision. When it has two different curvatures like a football, light focuses at two different points, and vision can appear blurry or distorted. That difference in curvature is called astigmatism.

The good news: it's common and treatable. A comprehensive eye exam can diagnose it and recommend the right treatment.

Synaptic Plasticity

Synaptic plasticity is the ability of synapses to change their strength and efficiency over time.

It occurs when connections between neurons are strengthened or weakened based on activity and experience. Frequent use of a pathway strengthens it, while less use can weaken it.

This process is essential for learning and memory, as it allows the brain to store and adapt information.

Changes in neurotransmitter release and receptor sensitivity play a key role in synaptic plasticity.

It also helps the brain adapt after injury by reorganizing neural connections.

Synaptic plasticity is not just change, it is the mechanism that allows the brain to learn, adapt, and evolve.
