Which voice do you listen to most when you’re investing in yourself?

The practical one that counts the cost, weighs the timing, finds a reason to wait.

Or the quieter one underneath. The one that already knows. That feels the pull. That recognizes something worth moving toward.

The practical voice is loud. It’s good at its job. And it almost always wins.

But the quantum leaps in my own life have never come from the practical voice. They’ve come from following the other one.

When I leaped into a LinkedIn program in February before I fully knew why, I found my voice and built a presence I didn’t have before.

When I leaped into Lucky Book Publishing the week after letting go of another publisher, something in me just knew. (Yes, even though it was a scary investment).

Not just about the book.
About the alignment.
The ripple that one yes keeps creating.

It was never just about the outcome. It was about who I became because of that one decision.

Right before the last lap of my second mile repeat this morning, something in me said: not today.

So I stopped. I stepped off the track. And I let it go.

And then I hopped back in for the final 4 quarters, stronger.

A few years ago I would have pushed through anyway or stopped and judged myself for weeks.

But I’ve learned- and keep relearning- that your body’s signals aren’t weakness. They’re information.

I had a patient ask me this week: how will I know we’re making progress?

The honest answer: healing isn’t always linear. But when you stop fighting your body and start listening to it, you get to the root. Not the surface. Not the symptoms. The actual source.

That’s the kind of progress that lasts.

The people who heal fastest aren’t the ones who push hardest. They’re the ones who learn to listen.

You hear the call. You allow instead of forcing or resisting what is. You step off the track for a lap.

And then, when it’s time, you step back on stronger than ever!

Bolder Boulder 10k done. ✅🎉💃🏼

Not my fastest. Not my best race day. But I showed up, wore my 💙💛BELIEVE💛💙 race kit for inspo, and at some point (unexpectedly) stopped racing and started running. Running for fun, for running itself, and to just to, well, get to be out there. 💪

Sometimes that’s the win.

🇺🇸 That and spending our family Memorial Day tradition with my sister and super-fast nephew.

🏆 Winning my age (45) and also beating it.. those are things at

🐎Swinging by my alma mater’s booth at the expo (woop !).

😎 Snagging a new pair of sunnies on the way in to the finish. spontaneous swerve.

🫧 Hitting the pool to kill time between race and tribute.

👯‍♀️ And seeing and running with friends before, during, and after the race!!

I used to think I just needed to work harder.

More exercises. More treatments. More discipline.

I was a PT with a doctorate, running 2:50 marathons, doing everything right.

And I was still stuck.

Achilles. IT band. Hip. Back. Knee. Shoulder. Moving around, never resolving. I thought pain was just the price you paid for loving movement.

Then a mentor showed me something I’d never been taught in all my years of training.

It wasn’t about chasing pain from place to place.
It was about the nervous system. The thing underneath everything else.

When you calm the nerve first, everything else finally gets the signal to let go.

I stopped the cycle. Not by adding more. By doing the right things in the right order.

That was over a decade ago. I’ve been running ever since. Stronger, easier, freer than I was in my twenties.
And I’ve spent every year since helping others do the same.

Not just athletes. Anyone who’s been doing all the right things and still can’t get out of pain. Anyone who’s been told to manage it, medicate it, live with it.

That’s not good enough. And it’s not the only option.

I had a talk to give in New York.

I had notes. A plan. A whole outline in my head.

And then I let it go.

Not because I wasn’t prepared. But because I’ve learned that the best things come from somewhere deeper than preparation.

I exhaled. I trusted. And I just spoke from what I know and who I am.

The room responded.

And I was reminded of something I teach every single day in my work with the body:

When you stop forcing and start trusting, something opens.

You already have what you need. The brains. The heart. The nerve.

It’s already there. It’s already you.

That’s true in your body too. The healing you’re looking for isn’t somewhere outside of you. It’s waiting for you to stop bracing and come home to it.

I’m opening the doors to work with another small group of people who are ready to do exactly that.

In their bodies first. And then feel it ripple into everything else.

That room caught me off guard.

I was at in New York last week. Strangers kept stopping at my booth. Not to browse, but to tell me things. To ask me things.

About their bodies. About grief. About whether there was another way forward that no one had shown them yet. One woman stayed for 20 minutes.

Time went strange. Conversations were rich. And I listened closely, like I love to do.

What struck me wasn’t just the pain people were carrying. It was who was carrying it. Entrepreneurs. Authors. Athletes. People living full lives with this quiet thing underneath they hadn’t been able to solve.

Because you can’t do your best work in a body that’s holding you back.

Read that again.

I came home knowing it was time to open the (virtual) doors again.
