Boulder County AIDS Project Until there is a cure, BCAP works to improve the lives of people living with HIV & AIDS, minimize HIV

Boulder County AIDS Project believes all people living with or affected by HIV and AIDS deserve quality health care. Every day, we test individuals at risk for HIV, making sure those who test positive gain access to the care, information, and support they need. Because testing, treatment, and ending stigma are the pathways to a world without AIDS.

This past Sunday, May 17th, BCAP and the Interfaith AIDS Coalition (IAC) honored those we have lost to the HIV/AIDS epidemic at the annual Candlelight Vigil. This event was one of thousands held around the world on Sunday! AS BCAP, the IAC, and vigil attendees commemorated loved ones near and far, 9News documented the experience.

Check out the short video here:

At Boulder’s AIDS memorial, community members honored the lives lost and emphasized the need for sustained HIV support and health resources.

For the past 10 years, Colorado Organizations Responding to AIDS (CORA) has hosted a day to educate state elected officials about HIV and the needs of Coloradans living with and affected by HIV.

This year, CORA once again partnered with the Harm Reduction Action Center, Vivent Health, Promotores De Esperanza, Colorado Drug Policy Coalition, and Positive Women's Network - Colorado to expand advocacy efforts by including necessary issues like overdose prevention, harm reduction, reproductive justice, housing, and access to medical care.

Darrien Adams, BCAP's Prevention and Harm Reduction Services Coordinator was able to attend this year's advocacy day to represent and advocate for all BCAP clients and community members. People living with or affected by HIV are who our staff show up for, day in and day out, and it's important to make their voices known and heard where we can.

This event occurs every year at the Colorado State Capitol. For anyone looking to attend in the future, please reach out and we will get you in touch with the organizers.
