Your brain is constantly responding to the foods you eat every single day. Nutrition plays a major role in cognitive function, mood, memory, focus, and even how resilient your nervous system feels under stress. When we consistently fuel the brain with supportive nutrients, we create a stronger foundation for long-term brain health and healthy aging.

That’s why I’m so excited to talk about one of the most well-researched approaches to nutrition for cognitive wellness: the Mediterranean diet.

In this reel, I break down why this style of eating is so beneficial for brain health and what makes it so effective for supporting longevity, reducing inflammation, and protecting cognitive function over time. If you’ve been looking for a sustainable way to nourish both your body and brain, this is a great place to start.

I recently had the incredible opportunity to travel to South Africa to participate in a training with on Applied Polyvagal Theory and Embodiment in Psychotherapy and here are some insights from my trip.

Through this experience, I deepened my understanding of the powerful role nervous system regulation, safety, and human connection play in healing and overall wellbeing. I was honored to learn alongside such inspiring practitioners and grateful for the experience hosted by .

Experiences like these continue to shape the heart of the work we bring back to our community, and as practitioners, we continue to learn that healing begins when we learn to reconnect with ourselves and each other.

Eight weeks. Eight modules. One incredible community. ✨

We’re celebrating the completion of our very first BrainSpan Bootcamp cohort and reflecting on everything we explored together to support long-term brain health, resilience, and healthspan. From nourishing the brain and nervous system to building stress resilience, improving recovery, deepening connection, and reducing toxic load, this experience has been such a meaningful reminder that sustainable wellness is built one small habit at a time.

To everyone who joined us on this journey: thank you for showing up, staying curious, and investing in your future brain health. 💙 We can’t wait for what’s ahead.

No Mothers Day song or poem -just me holding hands with a beautiful man in South Africa today. According to beautiful teaching from this land, you can go back in your lineage of mothers and imagine that there is an umbilical cord connecting us to all the mothers. You can go back to the next generation and keep going back until you find the wise, the well and the loving maternal ancestor who can support your life, your love. Your passed down resilience to you and love too or we wouldn’t be here…

Resilience isn’t built in big moments...it’s shaped by what you do every single day.

Small, consistent habits can calm your nervous system, support brain health, and create a stronger foundation for how you respond to stress.

Start simple, stay steady, and let those small shifts add up.

In a week's time, I'll be travelling to South Africa to co-teach a workshop on Applied Polyvagal Theory with Dr. Arielle Schwartz ()!

During this workshop, which takes place next Monday, May 4th, in Capetown, South Africa, we’ll be exploring how nervous system physiology shapes mental health, and how clinicians can integrate polyvagal-informed, somatic, and EMDR-based approaches to support healing at a deeper level.

This full-day training is designed for psychologists, psychiatrists, counselors, and social workers who want practical tools to:

• Assess safety and threat through neuroception
• Support co-regulation and the social engagement system
• Use HRV and vagal toning for stress resilience
• Expand clients’ window of tolerance through somatic interventions
• Integrate these practices across the 8 phases of EMDR

Join us in Cape Town on May 4th, 2026 for an immersive, clinically grounded experience.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗘𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗣𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗕𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵: 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 🧠

Stress resilience isn’t just about “handling life better”.
It’s one of the strongest predictors of your 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵𝘀𝗽𝗮𝗻 and 𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗮𝗻.

Chronic stress keeps the body in a constant survival state, driving inflammation, disrupting hormones, impairing sleep, and accelerating cognitive decline over time. It directly impacts memory, focus, and emotional regulation by altering how the brain functions and adapts.

Resilience, on the other hand, is 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘵𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦.

When you build the capacity to regulate your stress response, you support:
→ more stable blood sugar and hormones
→ deeper, more restorative sleep
→ reduced inflammation
→ stronger memory and cognitive performance

This is how we preserve brain function and extend quality of life.
Healthspan is not just about years lived, but 𝘺𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘴 𝘭𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘥 𝘸𝘦𝘭𝘭.

A resilient nervous system is what allows everything else in your care plan to actually work.
