Burien, WA (near Seattle) has instituted a city-wide ordinance against a number of "behavior[s] that [are] 'unreasonably disruptive to other users'” in public spaces, in which they include "wearing insufficient clothing for the location’s use (e.g. no top, no bottom, no shoes)." Bob Neinast summarizes the situation in his blog today and provides contact information, and advice, for urging the Burien city council members to reconsider this ordinance. If you believe that going barefoot is a healthy personal choice that has no justification for being considered "unreasonably disruptive," please consider constructively sharing your perspective with them.
