Today, my heart remembers.

Another year has passed since my dad left this earthly plane, yet there are days when the veil between worlds feels incredibly thin.

This morning, I sat in meditation with one simple prayer…

“Dad… if you’re near, let me feel you.”

And he came.

Not as someone different or transformed into perfection—but as him.

With the most magnificent pearly white wings… wearing his raggety jean shorts and that tuxedo T-shirt that could only belong to my dad. I couldn’t help but smile through my tears because our souls recognize love long before our minds try to explain it.

Grief has taught me something I never expected.

It isn’t the opposite of healing.

It is the continuation of love.

There are still moments when I ache for one more hug, one more conversation, one more ordinary day together. I still miss his laugh. His presence. The comfort of simply knowing he was here.

And yet…

I have come to trust that love is not confined to this physical world.

The people we love do not simply disappear.

Their essence continues.
Their love continues.
Their wisdom continues.

Sometimes through a feather on an unexpected path…
Sometimes through a song that arrives at the perfect moment…
Sometimes through a dream…
A memory…
A feeling…
Or a quiet whisper that reminds us we are never truly walking alone.

As someone who spends her life holding space for healing, I have also learned that grief is sacred.

It softens us.
It expands us.
It reminds us that every tear is simply love with nowhere physical to land.

So today, I honor my dad.

I honor the ache of missing him and the gift of still feeling him.

If your heart is carrying someone you miss today, I hope you know this:

Our connections are not ended by death—they are transformed by love.

May we remember to love each other deeply while we are here.
May we speak the words that matter.
May we forgive more easily.
May we laugh often.
May we hold one another with greater compassion, knowing we are all carrying stories that cannot always be seen.

Love is the thread that weaves through every lifetime.

And I believe… with all my heart… that not even death can unravel it.

There is a quiet sacredness in what we entrust to one another.

And not everyone knows how to hold it.

Sometimes what is shared in truth ~ or the essence of who you are ~
becomes… distorted in another’s telling,
reshaped, reframed, or spoken of in ways it was never meant to be.

But distortion is not truth.

Your truth does not become less whole
because it was carried without reverence.

And part of this human, soulful path…
is learning to discern what is yours to hold as truth ~
and what cannot touch the truth of who you are.

Come back to what you know.
Your truth is still there… untouched.
