Please join us in celebrating Dana Hopson, our Evening Receptionist, as Avir at Bowie’s August Employee of the Month! 💙

Dana has dedicated her life to caring for others, beginning her career in the medical field at just 18 years old. With 37½ years at the clinic, 3 years in the Emergency Room, and the past 6 years as part of the Avir at Bowie family, her experience, compassion, and friendly smile have touched countless lives.

When she’s not welcoming everyone who walks through our doors, Dana enjoys spending time with her three teenage grandchildren and loves setting sail on cruises to make new memories.

Thank you, Dana, for your years of dedication, your positive attitude, and the kindness you show to our residents, families, visitors, and team every day. We are so grateful to have you as part of the Avir at Bowie family.

Recovery doesn’t happen overnight—it happens one pedal, one step, one stretch, and one victory at a time. Our rehabilitation team meets each resident where they are and develops an individualized therapy plan designed to help them regain strength, confidence, and independence.

At Avir at Bowie, our therapy gym is equipped with advanced rehabilitation technology to support a wide variety of recovery goals, including:

🚶 Gait & Balance Training – Helping improve walking, stability, and reducing fall risk.

🚴 NuStep® – A low-impact recumbent cross trainer that strengthens both the upper and lower body while improving endurance, circulation, and cardiovascular health.

🚲 OmniCycle® – An interactive therapeutic exercise system that provides assisted, active, or passive movement to help improve strength, range of motion, circulation, and neurological recovery—even for those with limited mobility.

🌡️ Diathermy Therapy – A deep-heating treatment used to help decrease pain, reduce muscle stiffness, improve circulation, and promote healing so residents can participate more comfortably in therapy.

💪 Combined with personalized Physical, Occupational, and Speech Therapy, these specialized tools help our residents recover from surgery, illness, injury, stroke, hospitalization, and other conditions that affect daily living.

What started as a simple goal turned into something truly incredible! Thanks to the generosity of our amazing team and community partners, we collected 447 composition notebooks to donate to the Back-to-School Fair!

Every notebook represents an opportunity for a student to start the school year prepared, confident, and ready to learn. Together, we’ve made a meaningful investment in the future of our community.

A heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who donated, shared our drive, and helped make this project such a success. We are especially grateful to our wonderful community partners—joining us in making a difference.

Join us August 10–14 as we celebrate Spirit Week with a fun-filled tribute to the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll! From 50s Day and Elvis Day to Sock Hop Day and Rock ‘n’ Roll Friday, our residents and staff are ready for a week of music, memories, laughter, and plenty of fun.

We’ll be dressing up, enjoying delicious themed treats, and making unforgettable memories together each day. 💙🎶
