Michael David (Mike) Brickey, 74, passed away at his home in the Fruitland community on September 23, 2026.

Mike was born April 19, 1952, in Fort Worth, TX, to Raymond L. “Buster” Brickey and Eva Jo “Jody” (Sharber) Brickey. He graduated from Bowie High School after growing up in Bowie. He worked as a dispatcher for the Bowie Police Dept. in his last year in high school. After graduation he moved to Dallas where, after some training, he worked for several years in data processing at banks there, specializing in main frame data processing. He finished his career with Pier One Imports in Fort Worth, supervising their data processing and computer systems. After retirement from this profession, he became a security guard for Devon Energy and then with TriCorps Security.

He met and married Betty Jean Martin during his time at Pier One, and they spent over 25 years of happiness together before her passing in 2022.

His retirement plans were to finish the house he was building, then to spend his time shooting pool, which he dearly loved, in his new place and to spend time with friends and family that he cared so much for.

Mike was a good friend to many and very beloved by his entire large family: his sister, his aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. He will be remembered as a very generous, kind and wonderful person by all who knew him well. We will all miss his free spirit and willingness to help us at any time.

He is preceded in death by his wife Betty, parents, Buster and Jody Brickey, his brother, Dougla Brickey, and several close aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Mike is survived by his sister, Pam Brickey Burkhart and husband Charles of Bowie; stepson Charles Martin and wife Ashley of Wichita, Kansas; several dearly loved nieces, nephews, and cousins; and one aunt, Patsy Blondell of Mineral Wells, Texas.

According to Mike's wishes, a private memorial service for family and close friends will be

Jude Mark Davis, 16 of Leonard, TX went to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 15th, 2026.
A celebration of life will take place on Saturday, October 24th at 4:00PM at the First Baptist Church in Leonard, with pastors Chad Rowell and Austin Bratton officiating.
Jude was born on January 28, 2010, in Denton, TX to Josh and Kim Davis with his younger twin brother Joel Levi Davis. Jude loved to run and go on long bike rides on country roads. He was an athlete, musician, and chess player who loved history and geography, was completing dual-credit coursework, and served as the Brass Captain and section leader in the Band Leadership Team, participated in Student Government, Beta Club, and church youth group while proudly working as a busboy at Bita's Tex-Mex. Jude loved to be active, climb trees, joke, hang out with friends, play board games, and listen to music. Jude had plans to travel to Europe, attend college in the Wyoming mountains and become a History teacher and Cross Country Coach. He is dearly loved and will be deeply missed.
Jude is survived by his parents, Josh and Kim Davis; brother, Joel Davis; grandparents, Donna Rogers, Candye Allen, Ted Davis and June Davis; aunts and uncles, Kristy and C**t Craig, Katie and Hayden Richardson, Brandon Davis and Jacob Davis; and cousins, Sara, Jamye, Ryan, Jasper, Dylan, Denton, Gauge and Ayla.

Nora “Juanita” Willett, affectionately known as Nita and Grandma, of Sunset, TX passed peacefully into the arms of the Lord, on Thursday, October 15, 2026.

Family will receive friends at the White Family Funeral Home in Bowie, TX on Thursday, October 22nd from 6-8 p.m.

Funeral services will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 23rd, at the White Family Funeral Home, with Mark Autry officiating.

Burial to follow at the Sunset Cemetery in Sunset.

The family welcomes everyone afterward for a luncheon at Victory Baptist Church in Park Springs, TX.

Juanita was born on December 7, 1925, in Myra, TX to Bert and Bertie (Tuggle) Fenley, the 5th child in the lineup of 10 children. The family lived on a farm where she learned how to harvest crops and even how to drive a tractor.

Juanita married the love of her life, BW Willett on February 18, 1945. They were married 43 years until his passing in 1988. Together, they had 6 wonderful children, Carol, Kenneth, Frances, James, Kay and Lynnette.

Juanita loved quilting and made numerous quilts throughout the years that were gifted to many of her family and friends. She loved ceramics and even had a small ceramics shop for a while. Her main “hobby” though was her multitude of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She loved pouring her time and energy into them, whether it was playing cards and dominos with them or curled up in her recliner with them in her lap.

She loved the Lord and was a longtime member of the Victory Baptist Church in Park Springs. She loved fiercely, and with her whole heart. Her family meant everything to her.

She is preceded in death by her parents Bert and Bertie Fenley, her husband BW Willett, daughters, Frances Moose and Kay Lassiter, 3 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and her 9 siblings.

Juanita is survived by her children, Carol Ubbins, James Willett (Brigitte), Kenneth Willett, and Lynnette Willett; numerous grandchildren; great-grandchildren; great-great grandchildren; and a multitude of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Loye Inez Steen, 93, of Bowie, TX, passed away Wednesday, October 7, 2026.

Graveside services are at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 9th, at the Medlin Cemetery in Trophy Club, TX, with Bill Parker officiating.

Loye was born March 4, 1933, in Roanoke, TX to Hartwell and Eunice Newman. She was in the first graduating class of Northwest High School. On September 2, 1949, she married Bill Steen in Weatherford, TX. Loye owned and operated Ceramics Plus in Bowie. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, and loved to garden and cook.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bill, and daughter, Julie Parker.

Loye is survived by her granddaughters, Melissa Hay and husband Robert and Morgan Soward and husband Dustin; son-in-law, Bill Parker, all of Bowie; and great-grandchildren, Cooper, Spencer, Maddie, Molly, Xander & Rhett.

Ray Kent “Skeeter” Boyd, 91 of Bowie, TX, passed away Tuesday, October 6th, 2026, in Gainesville, TX.

Family will receive friends from 10 AM to 12 PM on Thursday, October 8th, at the White Family Funeral Home in Bowie. A graveside service will follow at 2 PM on Thursday at Perryman Cemetery in Forestburg, TX, with Randy Taylor officiating.

Skeeter was born on September 13, 1935, to Joseph Amsey and Eula Belle (Akins) Boyd in Fruitland, Montague Co., TX. He graduated in 1955 from Forestburg High School. As a young man he worked for his grandfather and then went on to serve his country in the United States Army in 1957. Throughout his life he worked as a truck driver and carpenter for many years. Skeeter also rodeoed, bull riding and ba****ck riding. He loved music and was an avid fiddle maker and enjoyed playing the fiddle and mandolin.

He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Bryce Kent Boyd; brothers, Donald Dean Boyd, Joe Arnold Boyd, Ricky Carroll Boyd, Jerrell Roger Boyd, and baby boy Boyd in 1945; sisters, Sheridan Ann Boyd and Bonita Francis Boyd; brother-in-law, James Barker and sister-in-law, Wilma Dean Kistler.

Skeeter is survived by his sons, William Lynn Boyd of Hillsboro, OR, and Joseph Sterling Boyd of Mesquite, NV; brothers, Norris Wayne Boyd and wife Carolyn of Rosston and Doyle Vane Boyd of Houston; sisters, Donna Gayle Vann and husband Tony of Forestburg, Ramalee Barker of Bowie, and Bobbie Dale Mitchell and husband Billy of Georgia; former spouse, Linda Claudet Stradley of Tigard, OR; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Linda Jeanne Wynn, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 6th, 2026, at the age of 82.

A celebration of life will take place on October 10th, at 10:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Bowie, 306 Cooper Street in Bowie. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.

Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Bowie.

Linda was born November 24, 1943, in Pilot Point, Texas. She was adopted into her loving family of Maurice and Annie James as an infant. She primarily grew up in Bowie and graduated from Bowie High School in May of 1962. That is where she met and married her first husband Don Stephens.

Linda loved being a wife and stay at home Mother. Later on in life she worked for Arlington Independent School District for 16 years and married the love of her life, Larry Wynn.

She is survived by her loving husband Larry; her daughter Denise McFarland and husband Bob; and her daughter Leann Carlson and husband Joe, as well as grandchildren; Amanda, Ryan, Patrick, Timothy, Chris and Stephanie. She is also a proud great-grandmother to Alexxis, Mario, Maevis, and Maezie.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother Maurice and Annie James and her brother John James.

Though she will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort in knowing that her earthly journey is complete and she is now resting peacefully in the presence of her Lord and Savior.

Mary Sue Walters Liggett
Mary Sue Walters Liggett, 88, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2026.
Graveside services will take place at Elmwood Cemetery in Bowie, Texas on Tuesday, October 6th, with a visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m., followed by a memorial service at 10:30 a.m.
Mary Sue was born on March 27, 1938, to Loyd Francis and Vera Lee Walters in Bells, Texas. On February 3, 1971, she married the love of her life, Finnis Charles Liggett. Their marriage was a testament to enduring love, companionship, and devotion, spanning 55 wonderful years.
A lifelong educator, Mary Sue graduated from Bells High School in 1957. She earned an associate degree from Cooke County College and later completed her Bachelor of Science degree from Texas A&M University-Commerce. She dedicated her professional life to education and retired from McKinney Independent School District. She taught Business Administration for 30+ years and inspired countless students throughout her career.
Faith and service were cornerstones of Mary Sue's life. In her early years, she served as a Sunday School teacher at First Baptist Church in Bells, Texas, and taught Girls in Action (GA's), helping guide young girls in faith and service. Throughout her life, she remained committed to serving her church and community, especially during her years in Denton, Texas.
Following retirement, Mary Sue and Charles made their home in Bowie, Texas. Together, they shared a love of travel and enjoyed exploring new places throughout the years. Among their most treasured adventures were trips to Alaska, Switzerland, Italy and France, where they created lasting memories and deepened their appreciation for the beauty and cultures of the world. She embraced retirement with the same enthusiasm and creativity that marked every stage of her life. She loved sewing, quilting, crafting, and creating beautiful, beaded jewelry. Her creativity brought joy to family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to receive one of her handmade treasures.
Mary Sue will be remembered for her kind heart, servant's spirit, dedication to education, unwavering faith, and the love she shared with those around her.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Betty Walters White; and her brothers, Loyd Price Walters and Bennie Walters.
Mary Sue is survived by her husband, Charles Liggett; five nieces; four nephews; many great-nieces and nephews; and a host of cherished friends whose lives were enriched by her friendship and generosity.
Though she will be deeply missed, her legacy of faith, learning, creativity, and love will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

Sammye Hardeman Ragsdale, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 29th at the age of 80, with her devoted husband, Nolin by her side.

A celebration of Sammye's life will be held on October 17th at 10AM at the First Baptist Church of Justin, 402 W 8th St, Justin Texas.

She was born on March 16th, 1946, in Ft. Worth, Tx. to Sam and Lena Mae Hardeman. She was raised on a dairy farm in Justin, Tx; where she would meet and marry the love of her life of 62 years, Nolin Ragsdale, on June 27, 1964. Throughout her life, Sammye was known for her kindness, strength, faith, and her servants heart. She had a special way of making people feel loved, welcomed, and cared for.

Sammye dedicated her life to her family, her friends and her church. She especially cherished her role as "N***y". Her family was her greatest joy, and the thing she was most proud of. She never missed an opportunity to spend time with her kids, grandkids or great-grandkids whether that was through lunch dates, family dinners, Christmas mornings, Friday night slumber parties or any simple moment in between. She truly treasured the time spent with them.

She leaves behind a beautiful family who will forever cherish her memory. She is survived by her loving husband, Nolin; her son Russell and wife, Kelli; and son Courtney Ragsdale as well as grandchildren Jake Ragsdale and wife, Emily; Britainy Wheeler and husband, Morgan; Elli Vernon and husband, Keifer; and Hannah Ragsdale. She was also a proud great-grandmother to Hudson, Shawn, Riley, Wayde, Carter, and Auden, who brought immense love and happiness into her life.

She is also survived by her sister, Nita Judge, and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends who will miss her dearly.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother Sam and Lena Mae Hardeman and brothers Buddy and C.J. Hardeman.

Her legacy will live on through the family she loved so deeply, the lives she touched, and the memories she created throughout her years. Though she will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort in knowing that her earthly journey is complete and that she is now resting peacefully in the presence of the Lord.

Lee Roy Hargrove Jr. passed away at home in Bowie, TX on Tuesday, September 29th, 2026, at the age of 67 years old. He was born on April 13, 1959.
A memorial service will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 10th, at the First Free Will Baptist Church, 505 Strong St. in Bowie.
He is preceded in death by his parents, LeeRoy Hargrove Sr. and Joyce Hargrove, and brother, Charles.
He is survived by his wife, Elaine; children, Cheryl and husband Robert Burns, Jennifer Hargrove and Brandon, and Joshua Hargove and wife Veronica; grandchildren, Charles, Ainle, Maggie, Joshua, Harmony and Diego. He is also survived by his brothers, John Hargrove and wife Nancy and George Hargrove; sisters, Linda Hargrove and Sandra Owens; and many beloved cousins with whom he shared a special bond, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
