đź’™ Faces of Med Center Health: Eric Hagan đź’š
As Med Center Health has expanded its presence across South Central Kentucky over the past two decades, one constant has been the leadership and vision of Eric Hagan.
Since 2006, Hagan has served as Administrator of The Medical Center at Scottsville while also taking on leadership responsibilities at several other rural hospitals within the Med Center Health system. Now serving as Vice President for Rural Facilities, he has played a pivotal role in strengthening rural healthcare services and expanding access to high-quality care throughout the region.
Hagan’s healthcare career began in the military, where he served as a medic in the 1990s. He later earned his nursing degree and joined Med Center Health, quickly distinguishing himself both clinically and operationally. As one of the organization’s first staff members to complete Six Sigma Black Belt training, Hagan demonstrated a strong commitment to process improvement, quality outcomes, and patient-centered care. His leadership abilities ultimately led Med Center Health CEO Connie Smith to appoint him Administrator of the Scottsville facility.
Over the years, Hagan’s role expanded to include leadership responsibilities at Med Center Health facilities in Franklin, Albany, and Russellville, all while continuing to lead the Scottsville hospital.
“I’ve been fortunate and blessed to work across many areas of the organization,” Hagan said. “I hope one of the lasting contributions I’ve made to these communities is advancing clinical excellence while always keeping patients at the center of everything we do.”
That commitment is reflected in the continued growth and success of Med Center Health’s rural facilities. Under Hagan’s leadership, the hospitals have expanded services, advanced their levels of care, and earned numerous accreditations and recognitions from nationally respected organizations, including The Joint Commission, the American Heart Association, the American College of Radiology, and the American College of Cardiology.
In addition to advancing facility certifications, Hagan has strongly championed professional certifications for clinical staff and leaders, reinforcing both professional development and the delivery of exceptional care in rural communities. These certifications represent continued advancements across a wide range of services, including inpatient care, stroke and heart attack treatment, laboratory and radiology services, sleep medicine, wound care, clinical quality, leadership development, and more.
The rural facilities have also implemented advanced technologies that help expand services more commonly associated with larger metropolitan healthcare systems. Many of these accomplishments have been driven by strategic investments in clinical infrastructure and innovative technology designed to elevate the quality and scope of care available locally.
Looking ahead, Med Center Health’s rural hospitals are preparing to expand virtual care and artificial intelligence technology in 2026, further supporting the organization’s mission to provide high-quality, complex care closer to where people live, work, and attend school.
