Forgiveness doesn’t require you to let the narcissist back into your home… or your heart.

It doesn’t require reconciliation at all.

If you’ve struggled with being told you “should” forgive, or “have to” forgive…

This episode is for you.

Comment RESILIENCE and I’ll tell you exactly what you need to know about forgiveness so you can lay down that burden for good.

"You need to forgive me.”

“I said I was sorry."

“Just get over it already.”

If you've heard this from a narcissist - or from someone who doesn’t even get it - this one's for you.

In this episode I unpack the three things a narcissist is really asking for when they demand your forgiveness, and why real forgiveness looks nothing like what you've been taught.

If you’re with a narcissist, you've probably been made to feel guilty for not forgiving.

But maybe what you've been asked to do isn't actually forgiveness...

Maybe you've been asked to:

>trust them again
>let them back in
>stop talking about what happened
>make them feel better about what they did

And maybe the reason part of you has resisted is because you've already abandoned yourself enough.

The episode explores why forgiveness and compliance are NOT the same thing, and why you may have already started forgiving without realizing it.

One of the most confusing moments in a narcissistic relationship can happen when you finally try to talk about what's hurting you.

You bring up inconsistencies, betrayals, or patterns because you genuinely want to repair the relationship - and instead, you're met with:

"I never abused you."
"I didn't hit you."
"You think you're a victim?"

This is one way abuse gets minimized: by redefining abuse as only physical violence and dismissing everything else.

Emotional abuse, manipulation, intimidation, coercive control, and repeated invalidation can cause profound harm - even when there are no visible injuries.

You don't need someone's agreement about what happened for your experience to be real.

Surviving Narcissism

Some people don't build relationships based on mutual connection - they build them around what you can provide.

With narcissistic behavior, the relationship is transactional:

How can you benefit me?

How can your loyalty, attention, or support reinforce the image I want to maintain?

That's why someone may seem incredibly helpful, attentive, or interested in you at first.

The question isn't just "How good do they make me feel?"

Ask: "Is there genuine reciprocity here - or am I being valued for what I can provide?"

Say something true that doesn't fit their narrative - watch how fast you become "the problem."

Not because you were wrong. Because you were inconvenient.

Narcissists don't need your facts to be false.

They just need your facts to disappear.

And if you won't stay quiet, you become the villain of a story you never agreed to be in.

You bring up something hurtful they did? Suddenly you're "too sensitive."
You set a boundary? Suddenly you're "controlling."
You tell the truth? Suddenly you're "causing drama."

Here's what I need you to know - you didn't create the conflict.

You just refused to protect the lie.

That's not you being difficult.

That's you being honest in a room that only had space for one version of reality.

Abuse doesn't always sound cruel.

Sometimes it looks like:

coldness
withholding
passive-aggression
silent treatment
emotional neglect
constant criticism.

If there’s not an obvious insult or explosive argument, you might minimize what you’re experiencing and think, "Maybe this isn't really abuse."

But if you're constantly being deprived of connection, reassurance, and emotional safety… that IS abuse.

Dr. Nadine Macaluso doesn't just teach trauma bond recovery.

She survived one of the most public trauma bonds in modern history - and turned every ounce of that pain into a mission to help other women get free.

Her story isn't just informative. It's the kind that makes you exhale for the first time in a long time, because someone finally gets it.

Is pleasing them killing you?

If you're constantly managing someone else's emotions, avoiding conflict, and setting aside your own needs just to keep the peace, you may be giving away more than you realize…

With a controlling person, appeasing them doesn't create safety—it reinforces the dynamic.

You shouldn’t have to abandon yourself to keep someone else happy.

And if you do… there’s a problem.
