It's been a little quiet over here lately—but for a good reason!
Last week I had the incredible opportunity to spend two days in Boston attending an advanced Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS) workshop through the Once Upon a Time Foundation. The course was taught by none other than Dr. Edythe Strand, the developer of the DEMSS assessment and Dynamic Temporal and Tactile Cueing (DTTC)—two of the most respected, evidence-based tools for evaluating and treating CAS.
Over the course of the workshop, I gained a deeper understanding of the neurological foundations of CAS, how to accurately assess this motor speech disorder, and, most importantly, how to provide effective, evidence-based treatment.
As a speech-language pathologist, I'm committed to continually expanding my knowledge so I can provide the highest quality care to the children and families I serve. I left Boston feeling equipped, encouraged, and truly confident in my ability to assess and treat Childhood Apraxia of Speech.
I'm so grateful for this opportunity and excited to bring what I've learned back to my clients here at Goldenrod Speech!
