✈️ Where in The World Is TLG Learning Next? ✈️
🍋 Earlier this year, Marissa Hathaway, Owner of The Lemon Grove carved time for herself in between business responsibilities, mom-ing, & doula-ing, to craft a vision board. It had been something she'd considered doing for a long time, but never made a priority. But she was proud of the strides she'd made last fall in considering the idea of "balance" in her life, and knew she wanted to double down on the commitment to sustainability she made to herself. So, the arts and crafts commenced and this 4x3 vision board was born.
🌿 That's why, for the doula retreat, she decided to lead a session on intentional goal setting, intentionally considering what sustainability means & looks like (and what we want it to), while crafting vision boards. The mini workshop was an experience that brought everyone together - closer, deeper - as they examined even just a bit of what goes into how we have previously set, acknowledged, celebrated, or pivoted our goals, and how we might want to challenge ourselves to reset that process, as we try to be kinder, more patient, more understanding with ourselves, and to hustle for goals that actually bring meaning, value, & worth to our lives. This practice also served as an inspirational anchor for the remaining sessions of the retreat. And given that the retreat was a goal from last year that had finally been realized, a retreat-specific vision board was born that day, too.
🍋 Fast forward to this week, and we are THRILLED to share that Marissa H. will be headed to Tanzania in January 2027 to learn alongside Wombs of the World . Over the years, it's become clear to Marissa that she loves combining learning & living in a group setting, especially when there's opportunity for richness in diverse perspective & interdisciplinary approaches, particularly when international. Goals evolving into reality drink up tangible and figurative resources, existential questions, etc. Part of that struggle is what breathes purpose into them, & the surprise of it coming together even when it's on the board & we didn't know it.
