I used to see mental health only through labels like 'depressed' or 'anxious.' As a therapist, I helped others with compassion, but I felt taking medication meant I failed. My doctor’s honest words humbled me: healing isn't about being above support, but being honest enough to receive it. Medication, alongside therapy, created space for me to heal and grow. We're all human and deserve support.

You don't need to be falling apart to prioritize your mental health. We're taught to treat it like an emergency, but it's daily care. Build cushions for the fall through awareness, boundaries, rest, and connection.

I used to think mental health meant avoiding negativity and chasing perfection. I was obsessed with 'perfect' eating, workouts, and control, but underneath it all, I was miserable. You can avoid every societal stigma and still suffer. My eating disorder and exercise addiction were my way of outrunning fear, pain, and uncertainty, all while appearing put together. True mental health isn't about control or pretending; it's about balance, self-awareness, compassion, and self-love, earned or not.

Mental Health Awareness Month brings up a crucial distinction: true self-awareness versus hyper-awareness from survival mode. It's easy to become an expert at reading others while losing touch with yourself. True awareness means slowing down to understand your inner world, not just watching yourself. What are you truly feeling? What do you need?

Years into college, I battled exercise addiction and anorexia nervosa. Mental health struggles don't always appear unhealthy; sometimes they look disciplined and successful. My wake-up call at 23 led me to counseling, transforming my understanding. Mental health is self-awareness, healing, connection, and self-care, not just illness. Hard seasons can be the greatest redirections.

Growing up, mental health was a mystery, tinged with fear. I felt everything but lacked the words, becoming hyper-aware of moods and energy. My childhood home was filled with love, but also confusing, overwhelming moments my young mind couldn't grasp. I adapted by trying to control my surroundings, finding safety in humor and smiles. True healing began not with control, but by returning to myself. Fear isn't education or healing; choosing yourself is the path back.

Growing up, mental health meant illness and fear, especially with family genetics. I learned to associate sadness with depression and danger. It took years to understand that mental health is about living, feeling, and self-care every day. Let's explore this journey together this month.

There is an energetic field that exists beyond your body. When your mind, body, and soul align, your heart transmits love. It radiates outwards, reaching people who are quietly starving for it. The world is desperate for unity. Choose love, joy, gratitude, and authenticity.

Navigating parenthood can feel overwhelming, especially during the perinatal and postpartum seasons. Your body, mind, relationships, and identity are all shifting at once, and it’s okay if it feels like a lot. This is a tender, transformational time, not one meant to be navigated alone.

Give yourself permission to ask for help and to prioritize your well-being. Rest, support, and self-care aren’t luxuries, they’re essential. You deserve care just as much as you give it.

Remember, you can’t pour from an empty cup. Tending to your mental and emotional health isn’t selfish, it’s one of the most loving things you can do for yourself and your family. You’re doing the best you can, and that is enough 💜
